Great tips. I did my CCRN in February and the absolute best for me was the PASS CCRN bank. I did not use the book. They most closely mirrored the exam and I loved that I could focus on subject matter. Working on the big three - cardiac, pulm and neur...

I watched Laura in person a few years ago. But I used her DVDs in February to study for the CCRN. Using her DVDs, and the PASS CCRN bank (not the book) I can tell you that you do not need to see her in person. While I totally recommend it, because yo...

I suggest asking for the sick patients. Often times I do not assign sick patients to newer ICU nurses because I do not want them to be overwhelmed especially if I see signs that they get overwhelmed easily. When I ask a nurse if they are ready for si...

I would almost always say choose ICU. However, the fact that there are no nurses that have been there longer than 2 years is somewhat terrifying. Many ICU nurses go on for their NP's so that may contribute to the high turnover. I would ask the manage...

Techs were taken out of our ICU about 4 years ago, unfortunately. I find it to be very unsafe at times and I know for a fact patients do not get turned and bathed as often as they should on busy nights.

I believe after 1-2 years you should be competent (maybe not completely confident yet). Three years in an ICU is very marketable, especially if that ICU is in a larger institution.

I have always wanted to be a critical care nurse. I want to be able to help in crisis situations and I feel that critical care nurses are best equipped to handle those situations. I have also always wanted to eventually become a CRNA and ICU experien...

I have done a total revision on my resume, I thought the nursing skills was a bit much, I saw another resume that listed them, but I felt like it was kind of obvious that most nursing grads have these skills so I decided to just delete them. Thanks s...
I am a new grad nurse who just graduated 3 weeks ago and I am wanting to apply to a critical care internship at the hospital I am currently working at as an aid. It is very competitive and I was hoping to get some advice on my resume so far. The "Cli...
