according to ASPAN standards, 2 RN's, one being competent in PHASE I care must be in attendence. Believe me if a case would go to court, this would be the standard applied.......
Has anyone seen a skin reaction to Mastisol and Chloroprep together????? We just had one and wondered if this was more apparent in other larger hospitals??? thanks

You did the right thing....I have read documented reports of patients having allergic reactions to latex when only the latex particulates were in the air and not in contact with the patient.....

Betti, I want to say that I agree with the surgeon. If a patient states shellfish allergy, we ask about iodine preps. If the havent had it before, we do a test site. I have never seen a reaction to both. Even better yet, now we have Chloroprep.....
