Dont get expensive ones they get lost all the time, I had one for a while and a Dr. stole it, I found his and held is ransom until he gave it back and we swapped each others scopes. I reccomend getting a cheap one.
RT is a great field, highly under used if you ask me, I work very close with them in the ICU, but the jos outlook is not as good compared to nurses. just my 2 cents.

Nursing is all relative, I'm float pool, everyday is my monday with a new assignment, take it as it comes, never bored, highly recomend float pool if ever given the chance.
The VA has a loan repayment program for new hires but it is dependant on certain va facilities and the in need positions at the time, contact your local VA.
Its more of a hospital policy thing, at a hospital in Reno named Renown thier color is purple, I'vs seen nurses with purple hair and it was fine. It depends on the hospital, ask HR.
If you are looking for jobs in the bay area they they will pay quite well. I know compared to Nevada, california nurses make $40-60/hr depending in area and experience.
