HI, I have been researching telecommute insurance company positions for the past few months on these forums and I have a few questions about this type of nursing career field I could not find the answer to here yet. 1.Do they provide financial incentives for increased productivity? 2. Is there a certain company you would recommend based on your experience such as Anthem BCBS, UHG, UHS or smaller local health insurance companies? (I only have a local anthem office in my town, no other companies have moved here yet) 3. Hourly vs. Salaried? Do they take advantage of a salaried positions at home where you end up working excessive hours? (over 40/week) 4. What are the benefits such as PTO, Sick time, retirement plans? I have VA federal benefits which are hard to beat but is currently changing with the current U.S. administration. 5. Is it possible to work for an east coast company and live on the west coast? (with the appropriate state licenses of course). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Dont get expensive ones they get lost all the time, I had one for a while and a Dr. stole it, I found his and held is ransom until he gave it back and we swapped each others scopes. I reccomend getting a cheap one.

RN, go all the way, you will get bored and regret to going for the full license, the job outlook is worth it.

RT is a great field, highly under used if you ask me, I work very close with them in the ICU, but the jos outlook is not as good compared to nurses. just my 2 cents.

Nursing is all relative, I'm float pool, everyday is my monday with a new assignment, take it as it comes, never bored, highly recomend float pool if ever given the chance.

The VA has a loan repayment program for new hires but it is dependant on certain va facilities and the in need positions at the time, contact your local VA.

Its more of a hospital policy thing, at a hospital in Reno named Renown thier color is purple, I'vs seen nurses with purple hair and it was fine. It depends on the hospital, ask HR.

Hang in there, it is worth it, there are tough times and good times, and each place you work at will be slightly differnet, it is worth it to stay in.

Nursing will be hard on your hand but just take care of them, plenty of creams and wear gloves.

If you are looking for jobs in the bay area they they will pay quite well. I know compared to Nevada, california nurses make $40-60/hr depending in area and experience.

No worries, as a skilled RN there will always be jobs for you no matter where you live. good luck!

I worked all shifts in a row, 3 in a row, to keep my sleep schedule more even, that helped me, but everyone is different.

I work at the Reno, NV VA and I am working on a project to try and bring in the 72/80 alternate work schedule option. I am trying to find out what other VA hospitals in the country use the 72/80 work week for nurses. Does the Las Vegas VA do this yet? I have heard the Boise Idaho VA might do it and I am waiting to hear back from them. The 72/80 pay period does exist in the VA but a small percentage of VA hopitals use it, does any one here know which VA hospitals use it for their nurses? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to PM me for more information on my research or any additional information on who to contact and find VA hospitals that use 72/80.. Thanks!
