  1. Every nursing program I've heard of in California has competitive admissions, starting after you've completed two years of prerequisites. You don't really apply to nursing school straight out of high school, and for the most part where you take those...
  2. Sacramento State Spring 2017

I'm looking over the course schedule trying to plan for January, and I was wondering if anyone knew what Nursing 21 is? Is that a class we have to take, or do we just take Nurse 111, 112, and 113? Also, does anyone have an idea of what hours we'll b...
  3. CSU Stanislaus has an 18 month ASBSN for around 35k. It is taught in Stockton, CA. I chose Sac State -- it's only a few months longer, less than half the price, and the NCLEX pass rates are higher.
  4. Sacramento State Spring 2017

Phew. Congratulations to everyone who got in, and good luck to everyone on the waiting list hoping for a spot!
  5. Sacramento State Spring 2017

36 hours, not that I'm counting or anything...
  6. Sacramento State Spring 2017

Went to one before applying. I don't think it is relevant if you've already applied.
  7. Sacramento State Spring 2017

(a final cutoff of 77 seems likely... If I did my math right I don't have anything to worry about, but I think I'll be nervous until November 18!)
  8. Sacramento State Spring 2017

Email went out today! We received over 280 applications for 80 seats. Based on unverified, student-reported data, the applicant ranked number 80 has 79 points—the applicant ranked 127 has 74 points. We anticipate the final cut-score will be lower...
  9. Sac State Fall 2016

I can't remember where I read it, but I'm 99% sure that in the case of a tie in points, applicants are ranked first by GPA, then TEAS scores.
  10. Sac State Fall 2016

Thank you! This is super helpful. I'm planning to apply for spring 2017. I'm currently at 79 points. I'm taking a summer school course and volunteering to try to increase my points, but the huge increase in the cutoff had made me very uneasy!
  11. Sac State Fall 2016

Would those of you who got in from the waitlist be willing to share how many points you had?
  12. Nursing pay

$130k in San Francisco is equivalent to about $65k in Knoxville, TN.
  13. Sacramento City College

Congratulations, Kristen! I don't know if it means anything, but for the Fall semester, the los rios online enrollment system shows 30 spots in the first year class (Nursing 407), with 10 spaces on the waitlist.
  14. I sure hope not. I'll be 40 in a few weeks and was just accepted into a nursing program. I graduated from high school at 17, went straight to college, got married, had a baby, finished a bachelor's degree I'll never use (in that order), and have b...
  15. Sac State 2016

I'm super curious about what the point cut-off is really going to be after everything shakes out. Has anyone with less than 81 points received an acceptance letter? Have alternates been assigned numbers?
