"I've had patients tell me that I am friendly, caring, and a good listener,”
These are great qualities to have for L&D. I'm not high energy or extroverted either but have been complimented on my ability to remain calm in high stress situa...

Best wishes to you! I completely understand because I just did the same thing! 😁It worked out great for me while I had kids at home but now that they've all moved on it was time for me to move on as well. I spent most of my career in school nursing a...

This past school year we had so many spirit days with special t shirts all staff was to wear that I gave up scrub tops and wore tshirts with my scrub pants. Then we had a month of staff wearing jeans so I did as well.
I've never liked scrub top...
I can relate and used to get asked for advice (or diagnoses or reassurance they weren't dying) A LOT! And nothing annoys me more than some teacher thinking they can literally interrupt an assessment of a child to get their non-emergent blood pressure...

We didn't have a template or official meetings. However every school had to come up with some type of wellness activity/program. Things that were done in the county included family wellness nights (where families could come and play in the gym variou...

I bought an XL bag (I think it locks too) that will fit all my meds in case of an actual evacuation from one of the school nurse supply companies. (I don't mess with it for a known drill.)
You remain not certified and we will tell on you if you try to dispute this. We will also put you on a "do not certify list.” 😂🙄😂 Oh OK then! Double dog dare you!
That's like Walmart saying if you don't show up to pick up your order we will not ...

We are on the same contract as teachers but definitely not part of the administration. I've lost count how many times a teacher has tried to boss me around and I put my foot down and explain why that's not best or I agree or want to do that to have t...

I'd look up diabetic management and treatment in the schools (many have omnipods and dexcoms but newer diabetics won't. Look at how to carb count, figure out insulin to carb ratios, algorithms for insulin (the Dr will give). Also glucagon treatment. ...

I’ve been there. Schools are a whole different arena. As nurses we are used to being paid for every minute of work. It’s not that way in the education system. Teachers aren’t getting paid for after hours programs usually. Teachers spend many hours at...

Six weeks is common around here unfortunately. I’m glad they want to give you a couple more at least. The first thing I’d do is talk to the manager and be honest that you’re feeling overwhelmed and maybe in addition to extra time they could give you ...

I’ve never found anything that we are allowed to use that helps. If they can’t stop coughing and it’s constant or making them vomit I just send them home. Some kids end up needing an inhaler or steroids so I always recommend Dr follow up if they don...
