I know there is a regulation somewhere that says an MD must see a resident within X number of hours after admission to a SNF. I say 48...my friend thinks it's 72. I can't find the exact regulation. Any help out there?

I can't swear by it but I'm pretty sure its 48hrs. I know that our physicians see the new admits within 48hrs. I'm only speaking of my experiences in the LTC I work at in CT. (I am not a DON/ADON).

I thought it was 48 hours also... but can't swear to it, especially with how fast things seem to change lately!

I thought it was a DOH reg. What about all those Friday admissions that DO NOT get seen until the weekdays??? It'd be a lot of non-compliance...
My boss says it's 72 but we always tell the docs 48. It's so silly since the resident was JUST in a hospital and saw plenty of docs.

I have to say our doctors will show up over the weekend to see a new admit that came in on a Friday. That's if they weren't able to get in on Friday.
