UMass Boston Accelerated BSN 2014

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hi,

Didn't see a thread made for this program. Still waiting on any sort of notification from them about decisions. Anyone been in contact with admissions? This is my #1 school, still waiting on Northeastern, and I got waitlisted at MGH. Still have to apply to UMass Amherst and Curry.

pssst...For those who didn't get into UMass with a crazy low acceptance ratio. It's not you. It's just because everyone assumes UMass is cheap, so they draw the bulk of the 2nd degree candidates. Zillions apply.

Consider the Curry College Accel program. Admission deadline is June 1. The tuition (last I checked) is similar to UMass. They are quite selective, but with less applicants, you have a better shot. When I graduated, my sense was that they wanted to increase the diversity of the program. We were a pretty white bunch. Simply, you have a better % shot at Curry than UMass.

So this is a personal tip for you. Use it. Aren't you glad nobody reads messages near the end of a long thread?

I finally came around to making a group for those of you who are definitely going to UMass Boston in the Spring! The group name is 'UMass Boston Accelerated Nursing Program '15' - Feel free to search for the group and request to be added, send me your email via private PM, or add me on Facebook (.com/stellakc3) and message me to be added. Can't wait to meet everyone! Rest up because the 15 months are going to be brutal! :)

I know this thread's been a little quiet lately, but has anyone heard anything from UMass about financial aid at this point? The usual disclaimer applies: I know there's less aid available, second bachelor's and all. But I'm still anxious to get something from the school so I can figure out what loans I need to apply for.

@bostonhopefulnurse I've been wondering the same thing.. I haven't heard a thing, which is frustrating because it would be nice to know exactly how much I'll be needing to come with on my own... I'll let you know if/when I hear anything

So they sent an email today with a ton of helpful info, but still not much in the way of financial aid. I think I'm going to try calling next week. I'm glad to have the textbook info finally though. Also the system wouldn't let me register for classes yet, even though all the instructions said to do that ASAP. Anyone else have any luck, with registering or aid?

No luck with getting any financial aid info.. which is starting to stress me out!

Also, I tried registering over the weekend and could only successfully register for 1 class. This morning it seems like the other classes are available to register for, but every time i tried there was a glitch with trying to select a lab section.. Seems like they are actively working on getting this stuff up and running, so I'll try again later today or tomorrow..

@bostonhopefulnurse - did you ever receive more info on financial aid? or give them a call to see what's up? I was also thinking of giving them a call...

So I tried emailing a few of my questions to the person who has sent out all the info so far. She was nice and helpful to a point. But my financial aid and health insurance questions have to go to those respective departments. I'll keep posting when I hear more.

For lexielou22 and anyone else who may be reading/lurking ;) here is the response I got from financial aid, with my comments in parentheses:

"[COLOR=#1f497d]We will not be awarding summer students until the first or second week of May. Since you are a second BA student, you will only be eligible to receive federal loans. (duh, I already know this but I still want to know how much!) You will not be able to see your bill until you register for classes during orientation, (they've already had us register for summer and fall) therefore you won’t know whether or not you will need additional funding until then. (I'm sure this will be a valid reason to any outside loan when I ask them to expedite so I don't get dropped from classes!)

Ughhh this still makes me so nervous, knowing there will be just a few weeks to pull all the financial aid stuff together. Guess we don't have much of a choice though! Forward march :)

Hi everyone,

I am applying for the UMass Boston accelerated BSN for Summer 2015 and I had a question for you all!

I just checked and my application status has changed. It says a decision has been made and I will get a letter within 14 days. My application also has a section for financial aid and a "to do" list of "deposit fee". Does this mean anything??
