Hi all,

I am new to this site and new to nursing - hopefully! I am applying to the LPN program at GL Tech evening division. Is anyone else here going or has gone to that program? I am taking the NET in June (the last test date) and I just ordered study materials. I have to pass it because it is the last time they offer it!!! I am 40yrs old and completely changing my career so I am hoping I am not the oldest in the program if I get in. So send out a hello if you are going to the program at Lowell Tech.

Thanks

Susan

jamarie24~ I took the test at the end of March had my interview in April and found out that I got accepted about the first week of May.

PrisiRN2b~ Glad to hear your interview went well. Although they have 18 spots to fill I wouldn't be surpirsed if that number goes up as it gets closer to payment time. I have paid my $500.00 and now need to send in my check for $3,000.00 by July 1, 2009 or I will automatically be dropped.

That expense may be too much for some people during this difficult economy. Right now I just have to pay it and know that come next June it will be money well spent!

Talk to you soon!

I am using my wedding fund for this..I have been saving for 3 years and have a little over $3,000...all my savings would be going into this of course well spent ... I keep thinking about what everyone is saying...and that I took last test there was so I have possibly hurt my chances by doing that... I am venting so pardon me.... I am somewhat nauseous... I might go crazy waiting... I guess I should start to figure out a plan B so I am totally not in the deep end if I do not get accepted which is clearly a very good possibility...ughh.....For those that did get accepted do you mind if I ask what your NET score was? Of course you do not have to say but I am curious... I need to get a hobby in the meantime...this may be the longets month of my life thus far!.......

oh and you said only 18 spots left and 50 interviews to go but that is not including my groups session...add another 50 on top of that...coz they dont know NET scores and 18 spots maybe 9 night and 9 day? so Out of 100 people only 9 will be picked...my chances are getting slimmer and its only been 3 days since the test...wow...I am sure I am not helping anyone who is waiting like me! sorry!!!! Anyone else have an other information they can provide or there experience for GL TECHS LPN Program?? I do this to myself I know...

Jamrie24~ stay positive! Maybe he was estimating the amount of interviews that he had to do based on that testing group and yours. If it was just that testing group then that would mean that pretty much everyone in that testing group passed the NET and the essay. I don't think they would offer it that many times throughout the year it it had that high of a passing rate. IMHO I think once you pass the NET your odds are pretty good.

They also said that they have a letter stating that you are accepted and one that states you are being put on a waiting list. He said that they go to the waiting list once someone fails to pay the $500.

Its so hard waiting when something is so important to us and we can't control the outcome! I know for me it just drives me crazy, but be positive...I think you will all be just fine.

Off to my daughter's dance recital rehersal and then the recital tomorrow! Spring is so crazy with sports and end of the year activities.....bring on summer!

Hi Keke! You are right! I need to stay positive!!!:wink2: This waiting to find out about net is killing me! hahahahaha Well have fun at the rehearsal! Summer is fast approaching and I cannot wait!!! (Probably because I will know what is going on with my life at that point! LOL)

Thanks for the encouragement keke!

just a quick note to remind members as i have edited a few posts with names in. remember terms of service states

no potentially libelous information about specific schools, instructors, or health care facilities/entities should be posted in these forums. while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.

2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.

3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

Prisi - sound like you did great on the interview - keep us posted!

Keke - thanks for all of the info!

JMarie - I am freaking too.....waiting is the hardest part - I cannot stop thinking about it. I am thinking of signing up for a CNA course - I found one that starts in a couple of weeks and is only 4 weeks long. This way I would have something extra to add to the interview and if I do get into the LPN program I would nave a little experience. I wish I had taken the NET in Dec because it sounds like there would have been an advantage

By the way I have changed my name due to the above post(got paranoid) but you can figure out who I am!!!

Jmarie - How are you doing? I am still stressing and just trying to get all my stuff together that hopefully I will need at the interview.

Prisi - Did they tell you when you would hear if you got acepted or not? Thinking good thoughts for you.

I am still trying to decide if I should take the CNA class - it's $800 which could be put to my LPN program, but if it will help my chances to add it to my resume then it will be well worth it - what do you guys think?

Hi,

Do you think you guys will get your results this week? I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.

hey all!

I heard back AND...I'm on the waiting list :crying2: :D :banghead: It's kind of frustrating because technically I'm in, BUT that's assuming some other person either fails out of the program by December or can't make their payment on time for July 1st. That means I have to sit and wait for someone to screw up so I can take their spot...I'm in but I'm not guaranteed a spot. That's so annoying on so many levels...as if waiting to find out if I passed the NET and then waiting for an interview and THEN waiting to hear back from them wasn't enough!!!

But, to be fair, they were very blunt about the fact that applicants with health care experience are given preference, and I have NONE...I just finished a CNA course in May and just landed a full time job which I start in about a week. So the fact that I'm even on the waiting list is HUGE!!! However...I am still very anxious and will be sitting by the phone for weeks to come hoping for a phone call telling me there's a spot!!

Let me know how you all do!!!!

My best wishes are with you all :loveya:

Prisi - I would think that being a CNA you have experience!! I am still trying to decide if I should take the class - I had thought it would help my chances getting in - but you are a CNA and are on the waitlist. I think you should stay positive because being on the waitlist is a GOOD thing - you dont know how many will not pay on time or change their minds. So if someone drops out during the program then you can start in DEC and not have to wait until Aug 2010?

JMarie - Any news yet? It will be 2 weeks tomorrow so I think we have at least another week to go. I am getting my resume, transcripts and letters together - and saying a prayer EVERY nite!:wink2:
