Bunker Hill Community College 2014 Applicants

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Just wondering if there was anyone out there that is applying to the Bunker Hill Community College Nursing Program this year. I'm hopefully applying in the next application cycle after this semester of Micro, Drug Calc, and a Philosophy class. I'm looking into the night/weekend courses. Current GPA of 3.2.

Specializes in OMFS, Dentistry.

I applied last year and we were allowed to utilize scores from other places. Don't you hate it when you get wrong information? I dealt with a lot of that at BHCC

As for the LPN program prereqs, if you look up BHCC nurse education info session, then open the PDF, all of the info is there. It's A&P I and II, Math 094 or 097, Chemistry w/lab and English I. Keep in mind, though, that the prereq for A&P is Bio, so you would need that prior to signing up for the other courses. So, bio, English and math would be my top priority classes, in that order. You can take those 3 first semester, then A&P I next semester, then A&P II, and be ready to apply.

Hi guys,

Looks like some people here is applying for Spring 2015. ME TOO!! But I did horrible on my Teas, I actually took it today!! reading - 61.9, math 76.7 and science 45.8.....56% for individual...Im apply for the Day program. I feel so horrible that iI feel I can't pass the TEAS; Also this my 2nd time taking it... :( I finished all my prequis and have only psy 213 and stats left; which I'm currently finishing up. Fingers cross for anyone who's applying!!

Does anyone know how soon we will hear?

I called Admissions yesterday and the best estimate they could give me was around Thanksgiving. On Tuesday I'm going to call the nursing advisor, see if I get a different response. Anyone else take the TEAS for spring 2015? I took it on Friday and did ok. 86%overall

Wow, I didn't think that decisions would happen that soon. Good to know!

I took the TEAS in the spring but also got 86 overall- basically 86 in every section

SKay, how do you feel about your 86%? I'm confused about whether it's a good grade or not.. Percentile-wise, it looks strong, but what other people have been posting on one of the threads, it looks like it's good, not great. Also, how strong are your prereq grades? I'm pretty nervous about this whole process.

I feel okay about it. Bhcc is not my top choice so I don't really care. Their program is very competitive due to the price. I would love to have that price tag but I really want a bachelors in 1.5 years vs an associates in two.

86 is mediocre in the large scheme but BHCC is the only school I applied to that takes the TEAS. It all depends on what other people who apply score. The program is difficult to get into because they literally throw all your grades and teas scores into a spreadsheet sort and pick the top 30 or whatever. Other schools do interviews, look at your resume/life experience etc

I have a 3.65 undergrad and 3.8 for my masters which is in a related health field. I've been working in health ed at a major boston hospital. Due to my degrees I have student debt and in the long run it'll affect my decisions but I applied a bunch of places and will try to get scholarships. Not sure what my exact Prereqs gpa is but it's around 3.8.

I would be proud if I were you! Lots of folks on threads on this site applying to bhcc in the past have gotten in with 70 range too. Many who apply just barely pass. Stay positive!

Hi Karafoot and Skay, I too did my TEAS this week and scored 85% From what I understood it's not too bad as the average for the program is 64%. I agree with the competitiveness being mainly because of the price.. that's the only reason why I', applying there. Good luck :)

Yeah, I agree about the price being a motivator. This would be my first Bachelor's degree, so I'm trying to get my RN, then do RN to BSN online. At the beginning of this school year I deferred going to Regis and Curry for nursing, because my wife is in nursing school now and we have kids, so having two of us going at the same time would be crazy. So, for me, the RN program is perfect, but I can't believe how tough it is to get into BHCC for nursing. Are you doing an accelerated BSN?
