UMSON BSN Spring 2014

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

Hi everyone! I created the BSN Fall 2013 topic, but I couldn't apply at that time due to family issues. So now I'm applying for Spring 2014! Anyone else applying? :]

I applied to the Baltimore campus, it's about a 30 minute drive from my house but way closer than Shady Grove.

Same I applied to Baltimore. :)

Just looked at my application and saw my status as Committee Ready! Yay!

I was concerned about the number of seats too when I was deciding which campus to apply to, but I spoke to one of the reps at one of the open houses and they told me that although Baltimore accepts more students, they also get more applications and the opposite goes for Shady Grove. So, don't let that worry you.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but at the end of the day, it's a competition, so it's all about who you're going up against. It's never going to be because you weren't good enough, it's because someone else was better... even if it's a tinsy weensy bit better.

Hello! I stumbled onto this forum while searching this site and just wanted to take a stab in the dark and see if anyone else applied for the Spring 2014 RN to BSN online program. I realize this isn't entirely appropriate for this forum, but I found a lot of the information provided very useful! Thanks, guys! Good luck to everyone, nursing is a fantastic profession! :)

Your chances are the same regardless of which campus you have requested. You are evaluated against all other applicants without regard to campus.

Quick Question Grey Lady,

Out of curiosity, do you think we'll hear back sooner than usual since spring semesters typically have less applicants (at least for other schools, not sure about UMSON) and now that they've implemented the 200-word MAX essays?

Also, is age a factor? I'm only 18 years old. Do you think my age will have a negative impact on my application?

There is really no way to predict when you will hear back - there are SO many variables which affect the decision-making. Age is not considered - it may be illegal to do that.

Suddenly I'm not feeling not so hopeful.

The thought of my less than stellar college grades just over 20 years ago is starting to bum me out. My current grades are good but the past ones- not so much! I'm worried those grades will knock my gpa out of contention.

I really, really look forward to being admitted to UMSON! I believe it'll be a really good learning experience that will prepare me for the level or nursing expertise I want to achieve.

My status is still at 'COMPLETE READY FOR REVIEW' and I'm worried about making it to committee. :bag:

Your most recent coursework is considered more predictive of your ability to succeed in our program. Lots of us were not all that mature when we started college - the admissions committee knows that.

So maybe I am reading this wrong. But the "Certification must be completed within three months prior to the semester you are entering"[COLOR=#424242] about getting one's CPR card mean that we are supposed to get it withinthe three months before entering the semester? Which basically means we can get it in December if needed. Or am I just reading that wrong? Because my October schedule is packed.

Also, guess who just realized that she may have gave UMSON a transcript without my current classes on it. UGH... so scared, nervous, and anxious now. Hope nothing goes wrong, and they just ask me to send another one with my current classes on it....

Actually, the ideal month to do your CPR is December which will mean your card will not expire until after your fourth semester. So you will not have to renew until you graduate!

Are they already releasing decisions? My sister just got a letter of rejection.
