Towson or Stevenson

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

Hello,

I have been accepted to Towson and Stevenson and am in the process of trying choose which one to go to. I have not yet applied to the Nursing program. I was wondering if anyone goes to Stevenson for Nursing and how they like it.. as well as Towson. I am just really confused right now on where to go. :banghead:

Any thoughts on these two programs would be greatly appreciated! Thank You.

Yes, the prerequisites are the same for Stevenson as they are for the rest of the RN/BSN programs in the state. You can find all of the requirements for the program at:

Ok great. Thanks!

Go with Stevenson. I am currently a student there and working at a local hospital as a nursing student. We also have some Towson students who work there as well and they do not know nearly as much as the Stevenson students. It is easy to pick out who goes where and the nurses are not impressed with the Towson students

I don't think you can really generalize how "prepared" Towson students are because of the few you work with. Even if you can, it hardly reflects the quality of the school.

I would go to Towson because:

A. It is a public school and thus much much cheaper.

B. Last time I checked, Towson's nursing program wasn't being reviewed because of their licensure passage rate as was Stevenson.

C. Towson is generally a more respected university. No one out of the state of Maryland will have ever heard of Ville Julie let alone Stevenson.

D. Towson is cheaper...can't reiterate this enough.

Because really, it doesn't matter where you went to school a few years after you graduate. We all sit for the same exam. Btw, I don't go to either of the schools.

Agrippa, if you check out the MBON NCLEX pass rates, you will see that Towson fell below the required pass rate last year, while Stevenson's pass rate improved significantly.

I can't argue about Towson being cheaper, but Stevenson does offer financial aid in the form of grants which might bring the cost of attendance within the range of Towson...

Tine- did you ever make contact with someone at Stevenson?

Hi Jen. Yes I did speak to Karen. She was soooooo helpful. I do have to take all the science pre-req's before I can go there. She told me exactly what classes I have to take which I'm so happy that I found out from her because there is a certain Chemistry class that she told me I need and I almost registered for a complete opposite one at a comm college! She also told me that I can take Nutrition at Stevenson next summer. But everything else I am going to do at BCCC which is what Karen recommended that I do. I am taking Developmental Psych in July to get that out of the way so I can only focus on A&P1 & Chem!

Thanks again for your help! I'm ready to get these classes started!!!

Good luck Tine! Yeah, I know quite a few people in my class are finishing nutrition up this summer.....
