Montgomery College, how long?

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

I sent in my application for the fall at Montgomery College today. The deadline is March 1st. Does anyone know about how long I can expect to wait before I get an answer?

Thx,

Nikki

OMG - we can only wear unscented deodorant? And I can't wear my necklace? I wear this in memory of my son and have only removed it for cleaning/repairs over the past 7 years.

It sounds like they have specific model numbers of uniforms we are allowed to wear/get. Sorry MC, but I gotta go with what fits my bum.

It also states that the lab requirements for 110 and 121 total 7.5 hours and the lab is walk in. At least that is on our own schedule. I wonder if clinicals can be done on weekends. Anybody know?

Right now I am looking at M/W classes and thinking I will do two 5 hour clinical shifts/wk. I think 10 hours for one day might be too much for me just starting out.

It also states which vaccs/titers we need...MMR, chickenpox, hepatitis B, Tdap, flu, and TB clearance.

we have to have our own ? I would have thought the school covered that liability. husband isn't going to like that.

The annual premium quote for individual medical for a nursing student at this website was $35.00. I don't know much about insurance but this sure sounds affordable! I'm gonna get a second opinion from my stepdad who knows more about this stuff...

GM! Got what I asked! Thank goodness 'cause I would've been PO'd.

Nikki- I'm sorry. It sucks that they won't allow much of anything, especially something that has such sentimental value.

Andrea-Thanks for the link. Surprised how inexpensive it is for a student. I was curious to get an idea of prices for the professional, but I guess that requires a specific quote.

Glad it worked out Kristian. I'm trying to grow mine out so it will be long enough to stick in a pony tail come clinical time. I read that hair has to be off the collar.

$35 isn't bad. I can manage that.

Nikki, if you want to start a new thread, I'm for it.

JCPenny.com sells scrubs. They look well made and I like that some of the styles have some shape instead of just a big rectangle.

I also read that walmart and target (online) sell them. I will start a new thread and post a link here for it.

I don't mind if you start a new thread, Nikki. Sorry for the late reply.

Do you guys want to meet up a few minutes early for Orientation, so we can all sit together? Just an idea.

Marissa
