are nurse-nurse marriages common in your country?

by namzy

The moment i set my foot in a nursing school cheated the minds of most of my friends as they thought it was a new chapter in finding a marriage partner, as days went by things were totally different tough i never made an effort to have one. most of my close friends tried to have a girl who is a nursing student, but most of them complained that they were kicked out by saying " i can never marry a man who takes orders from a doctor i better get married to a doctor or someone of a different profession" this trend existed for almost two years, some indeed got boyfriends from medical schools and others men from different professions. today the funny thing is that most of these girls are desperate for serious men to marry them, and are trying to adhere to the very same male nursing students they underestimated, it is therefore an abstract war between men and girls at my nursing school.Do female nursing students perceive male nurses as worthy their husbands? Are nurse-nurse marriages common in your country?

What country are you in?

Must be some really old-school culture where people mainly marry for money, prestige, and bragging rights...

You wouldnt happen to be an American would you?

Srsly though, the girls are probably just turned off by your friends and are using the nursing thing as an excuse. From your post, it sounds like your friends come on too strong. Who gets rejected on grounds of "marriage" before they even begin dating?

Not saying the girls arnt at fault either, seeing how they all came crawling back once reality came crashing down on them. Its got more to do with their age than their career. Most girls around 18-22 (just a rough range I'm throwing out) don't know what they want in a relationship.

The same can probably be said of guys too, but Im just mentioning that so I dont get flamed for being a sexist pig.

It doesn't seem to be a problem in the U.S. During the course of my BSN program I was involved with five of the women in my class, and am not happily engaged to a fellow nurse.

I am an American, and I see nurses get married all the time. Personally, I like the idea of marrying another nurse. There are very few males in the profession, so this kinda posses a challenge, but I think a man can't be such a bad person if he possesses the heart and passion to be a nurse. I have yet to meet one worth dating, but I'm still hopeful. Falling in love with & marrying another nurse is my own little fantasy, lol : )

My fiance and I are both nurses... makes it easier to talk to someone and decompress after a rough day, and they understand the wierd schedules, etc.

Of course, one thing that may help me is that I don't see myself as taking orders from a physician, rather, I tell the physician what orders I need. Just a more collaborative, less hierachical way of practicing.

Around here it's very common to observe, listen, and hear about nurses becoming the mistress of a doctor!
