LOL how few is a few..LOL..what is np stand for nurse practitioner?
I did a 4 year preceptorship as an RN with an OB-GYN before I went to NP (nurse practitioner) program and then certified as OB-GYN NP.
Then, worked a few years as OB-GYN NP and decided to go to an NP program in family practice. I've been in a practice with 6 physicians for the past 10 years (now, part time) as an FNP.
About 4 years ago I was certified as a legal nurse consultant (CLNC) and this year registered as a legal nurse consultant (RLNC).
So, I suppose I go to school and/or seek education all the time.
What's next?
Who knows.......

That is what I was going to ask!:chuckle man i see now that I have a LOOOOOOOONG way to go!!! but that is one of the nice things about nursing, you dont get boxed into certain area, you are always free to expand, so how long have you been nursing altogether?

wow! and do you not find yourself getting burned out. that is like the biggest thing i hear from about alot is burn out. how do you keep it fresh?
Yes, quite common, and, I am not immune, pampa.
Mine came after a combination of work and personal issues. I burned out and actually took a 3 month leave of absence from my full-time position. Now, I am part-time there. I was most fortunate to be in a place where I could do this.
Now, I am working on my business in which I incorporated this year. That helps to keep me busy and fresh........now.
I am sure I will be seeking to further this particular aspect of my nursing career. As for the clinical aspect, I am still very well respected and keep extremely busy. Also, I might add, I am an educator and serve as mentor for newly graduated NPs and precept BSN nurses. Teach just about every weekend, too.
I stay busy ALL the time. The variety keeps me from becoming stagnant, stale and bored.:)
And, I might add (edited) this board is awesome and helps to keep me sharp.

I appreciate that.I am a medical-legal consultant and incorporated my business this year. I do mostly consulting for attorneys, and, sometimes I serve as expert witness on cases, usually medical malpractice.

When I serve as expert witness, it normally requires travel for it is usually in another state and for days at a time.
I do not normally travel when consulting only. All is done by fax, email, phone, and/or snail mail.
