:uhoh3: I signed up with the College Network one week ago for the Excelsior LPN-RN program.

I was wondering if anyone has completed this program.

I am now worried because I just read many complaints against them online. I already knew that they are not affiliated with Excelsior college n that the school has own fees when I finally apply to them.

Reganna. Save your self a contract and from spending money on college network. The best way, is to go through Excelsior directly. You can purchase the required Excelsior text books or even college network modules on Ebay. You can also clep. It will cost you less. The college network only sells you really expensive books binding you into a contract with large payments. They are not affiliated with Excelsior College.

Hello there, I have been in the college network and paying my monthly payment of $300, and just been procrastinating on the modules... still have halfway payments but been feeling discouraged from this school. So basically its like learning and reading on own and passing exams right? and then how does Excelsior work? and is it less costly? thank you for your help! =]
Oh, dear. It appears that you signed up with the College Network without having a clear notion of what it is all about. Here are some basic tenets. The College Network is not a school. The College Network is not a degree-granting entity. The College Network is a publisher of optional study materials that can be used to help pass CLEP, DSST, and ECE exams to receive college credit by 'testing out.'

Here's how the process works. The College Network furnishes the consumer with extremely expensive study guides that cost an average of $610+ each. The consumer uses these study guides to pass CLEP, DANTES and DSST exams to receive college credit. The consumer usually does not realize that they can bypass the College Network and study for these exams on theor own.

The consumer is usually unaware that they can obtain these same study guides off Amazon, Ebay or Barnes & Noble used for $10 to $50 each. I recently paid less than $20 for a College Network study guide that originally cost more than $600. In addition, other study guides can be purchased that are of a similar quality for a fraction of what the College Network is charging.

The College Network require the consumer to enter into a legally binding contract that obligates one to repay tens of thousands of dollars for these very overpriced study guides. And because the College Network is not a legitimate school or degree-granting entity, the originated loan is a private one that does not possess federal student loan protections. The thousands of dollars that the consumer will pay the College Network does not even include the tuition and fees that are charged by Excelsior College (the school that offers the LPN to ASN program).

If you want to 'test out' to receive college credit, you can do it on your own and bypass the College Network altogether. College Level Examination Program (CLEP) tests cost approximately $80 each. 33 CLEP tests are offered, so I am sure your three courses are in there somewhere. For each CLEP that you pass, you earn 3 to 12 college credits. Click on the link below:

DSST exams are another option for testing out. You receive 3 upper division credits for each exam that you pass. Click on the link below:

TECEP tests, offered through Thomas Edison State College, are another affordable way to earn credit through testing out. The current cost is $37 per credit attempted, or $110 for a three credit exam. Click on the link below to attempt to find the three courses that you need to test out of.

And, of course, you can find good test preparation study materials and guides on sites such as Ebay, Amazon, Barnes $ Noble, and so forth. They do not necessarily need to be from the College Network, since the College Network has no official affiliation with CLEP, DSST or TECEP.

I am currently enrolled with TCN so far i have taken 3 exams i like it for the fact that they condense the material making it easier to study and plus i financed all my exam fees through them so i dont pay extra for the exams as i am on a tight budget.

HI Annieranks did you use any other study materials or just TCN? Did you take A&P with TCN? does the TCN practice tests help out a good deal? im just anxious and a bit nervous, I plan to go take mine in two weeks and want to be fully prepared for this exam.

Hey did you complete the program ? I am currently in lpn school and interested in program
