Western Career College??

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

I am an LVN, and I just started taking classes at my local community college to apply to their RN program. Then I got a postcard from Western Career college. Thay have an acceleratede LVN to RN program. It would be much more expensive, but faster than community college. I just wonder about their reputation. It is a new program, and Western Career College is known for their Medical Assistant and Dental Assistant programs.

I already calle WCC to find out more, but the "representative" didn't know anything, since it is a brand new program. She said someone would contact me. Of course that was before Christmas, and I haven't heard anything......

What do you all think?

The Only Info She Would Give Was Its A 2 1/2 Hour "meeting", Then You Take A Cpat Test To Find Out Your "level" Since They Do Not Take Just Anyone Who Applies. I Guess I Will Find Out Mon. I Will Let Everyone Know. Also The State Of Ca. Has Approved The College Networks Program For Lvn-bsn, I Meet W/ That Guy Tomorrow....we'll See!!!ive Got To Get This Done Somehow!!

Beware of institutions such as the College Network and RUE. The College Network and RUE are nothing more than overpriced publishing companies that sell materials that will eventually lead to a degree from Excelsior or Indiana State. You can complete the degree without ever needing to go through a publishing company. Good luck!

Remember, The College Network is not a nursing program. They will sell you materials that lead to a BSN from Indiana State University. You can earn the online LVN-to-BSN without buying anything from The College Network.

has anyone finished the lvn-rn at western career college??how long is the program? was it hard to get in and last of all is there a wait list?any info would be great!!!

I talked with a guy who was about to sign up for the lvn -rn at WCC. He said it is an 8 month program that costs $33,000. I thought i read an overview of the program that stated it was $15,000 and that wcc would be offering the science prerequsites within the next 5 years. i am confused.

Also, any info on the lvn - BSN from Indiana State University? cost, length, difficulty???

It is 2-3 years in length. People who are taking it state that if you can pass your tests in LVN school, then you most likely can pass your tests for the program at Indiana State. It is very expensive, but I don't remember the precise cost.

I know this topic is on Western, but to answer what I know about West Coast is that a friend went a year ago and tested to get in and was told it was $50,000:bugeyes: I don't talk to her anymore, but I have another friend that went a month ago and was told you need to have a 3.0 GPA from your VN school, besides testing to get in. Now if that's not enough to turn you away, maybe the cost of $60,000 :barf01: will. I've tried several times to speak to someone, but all I get is a recording to leave a message with never a call back. I get this annoying flier in the mail almost every month from them about "LVN TO RN STAT" as their catchy logo. I've returned it for info. and again no call back. I don't have time to go to the school in L.A. bc I work to much, but it would be nice to get someone to call me back.:flamesonb

TO EVERYONE INTERESTED...WOW IT HAS BEEN A LONG WEEK!! FIRST I MET WITH A MAN FROM THE COLLEGE NETWORK...WHAT A RIP OFF!!!! THEN I WENT TO WCC IN SACRAMENTO, 45 MIN DRIVE, BUT YOU GOTTA DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO, THE GIRL I MET WITH WAS VERY NICE, VERY HELPFUL . SHE LOOKED AT MY TRANSCRIPTS, THE LAYOUT FOR THEIR PRE-REQS IS SO NICE, 4:30-7:30 MON THRU THURS, 2 CLASSES EVERY 8 WEEKS, I DONT NEED ALL PRE REQS SO ON SOME OF THE 8 WEEK SESSIONS I ONLY HAVE TO GO 2 DAYS A WEEK, SHE PUT ME ON THE LIST FOR THE 5-29-07 CLASS, #19 AND THEY TAKE 30 EACH SESSION. THE COST IS 19,000 (ABOUT) BUT THEY HELP YOU W/ALL PAPERWORK AND HELP YOU GET LOANS THAT START 6 MONTHS AFTER YOU GRADUATE! THAT MAKES IT ALOT EASIER.

Thank you!. This is what I am talking about, great info. I live in the Sacramento area and have my eye on WCC. Are you saying they teach you the pre-requestites at WCC?? Or did u have all those done ? (I didn't know they were doing the prerequites at WCC)..I read it would be offered it the future.

pre=req classes are about 19,000 if you need all 9. then its 34,000 for their rn program.
