I can't believe I joined this site while trying to get into LPN school, and now I'm a licensed nurse and about to start the RN bridge program this August!

I was officially accepted into the RN bridge program at Valencia College and can not wait to take this next step. I decided to become an LPN first because the waiting list for the generic RN program was 2 years long and this way suited my schedule much better.

I'll try and update throughout the year and hopefully I'll be able to post in the RN - BSN threads next. I love documenting my journey through allnurses :)

I'm almost in your same shoes! I became a member "before" I took my first RN prereqs. Now I'm an LVN and just finished my RN prereqs.

I haven't yet applied to the bridge program yet, as the application periods don't open again for a few months, so you're a step ahead of me in that respect.

I would love to know more about the application process.. I can never seem to find the information. I'm a recent LPN grad and have been heavily considering Valencia for the AVS nursing program.

The biggest differences in my bridge program was a critical care class and a mental health class. Everything else was a repeat from my PN program. For myself, the bridge was pretty easy due to my years in critical care and prison nursing. My friends who worked LTC as LPNs struggled with the critical care concepts while my paramedic friends struggled with the medsurg concepts during this transition.

If you've not had acute care exposure, I think it would be fair to expect this next go around to be almost as hard as the first time. Yet, do keep in mind, YOU are a nurse. YOU already possess that title and have an edge over any "traditional" student without experience - even if you have not ever had a nursing job, the fact that you went through nursing school once and took NCLEX, you have an advantage!

I didn't feel nearly as stressed for my RN NCLEX because I knew what to expect from my PN one! You're going to do great!!!!!!

Does anyone know what exactly they look for when applying to the Valencia's AVS program? I applied for the Spring/2015 term. It is going to be a long 4-6 weeks of waiting!
