Need advice for LPN to RN on line programs.

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

I am looking into Excelsior College at this point. Because I have other degrees, I am not eligible for any student loans and Excelsior had a program where they lend you the money and you pay as you go. Any suggestions from anyone on the quality of Excelsior's program or any others??

Don't know how true this is but a nurse on here told me that they make you do your clinical for 1 weekend at the end of the program in one of their states then you have to work in one of their states for 2 years before you can go anywhere else. I'm not sure which states but I live in Illinois and its not one of the state's so I would have to move wherever they are located

I don't believe that's true about having to work in the state where you have your license endorsed for 2 years. That part, I believe, is false.

Excelsior, you do your clinicals in either NY, Atlanta, and I forgot the other state and no you do not have to live in a certain state. Idk about the other lpn-rn bridge programs

I'm an EC ASN grad and current EC RN-BSN student. There are several states across the country that offers the clinical. Your state of residency may or may not except an EC degree. That's when practicing elsewhere to gain the required number of nursing hours come into to play. If you click on the colleges link then click on Excelsior College, at the very bottom of the page are links with helpful information. Also the EC website is very open about the states that have additional requirements for licensure with an EC degree.

Actually i spoke with a rep from excelsior. I live in Illinois and because Illinois doesn't recognize the degree you have to sit for your nclex in another state outside of Illinois and you have to work as an RN for 2 years before you can transfer your license. Feel free to contact excelsior. 855-553-9235. Also clinicals for the program is only for one weekend and you have to travel to one of their clinical states.
