    Hello all!
I am a current LVN applying to Kaplan san diego lvn- rn to start may 2013. I graduated from Kaplan LVN program in February and currently work and volunteer at a local hospital. At first I was very ANTI private school, but I have working at my prereqs since 2007, and after so many years of school and not being accepted into a CC I am happy to go to Kaplan. I really enjoyed the LVN program and feel that I am a very proficient nurse.
ANyways, Im looking for anyone else who is also applying and wants some encouragement! We are all in this together!!!

Hi! I applied for the may start too, but not the lvn to rn, just the regular straight into rn. So are you already done with all your a+p, micro, sociology and such? Was that all in the lvn program?

I personally would go for your BSN at another school. Most hospitals are now only hiring nurses with a minimum of a BSN. Know that Kaplan is not accredited so if you decide down the line that you want a bachelors, the classes you took at Kaplan for your associates will not be transferable and you will be starting from scratch. Unless you have pre reqs already from another school. I thought about going to Kaplan as well for the LVN to ADN program, but got some great advise from nurses to go for my BSN. Good luck

Thanks for the input sd girl. I had actually been looking into national university but I would not have finished for 3 years. Everytime I thought about that I just wanted to cry! Haha. I've heard of people being able to transfer from kaplan to different places for their bsn. I haven't finished looking into the colleges I want to go to yet but worst case scenario isn't that bad which is to go to either kaplan university (which does have regional accredidation, unlike kaplan college) or university of phoenix for my bachelors. But there are plenty of rn-bsn programs I'm sure I'll find a few that are a good fit for me. Kaplan isn't the right school for everyone but I think it's the right choice for me.

True you can go to Kaplan University and that was a thought that crossed my mind. But in the long run the cost was outrageous to get the ADN then the BSN and I was afraid I would be over it by then and not go for it. Food for thought, my friend is a new BSN who has only worked for 2 years and makes $2.00 more than her coworker that has an LVN to RN and has worked at the same hospital for 10+ years. I know you want to hurry and get it done, that's how I was, but look at in a long run point of view. You know what's best for you though, I only wish I would have looked into more deeply before I got my LVN and went straight into getting my BSN O'well

Hello tawnyalee. I am also trying to apply to the LVN to RN bridge program at Kaplan for the May 2013 deadline. Have you been accepted yet? I am also an LVN grad from Kaplan but that a while ago. Ive been an LVN for 7 years now and I too have been working on my General eds since 2007. I am frustrated with community colleges and their waiting lists. I am not crazy about private schools either but at this point I just want to be actively in a program and working towards my goal of becoming an RN. Have you taken your Kaplan test yet? If so could you give me some pointers? Was it hard? I hear we have to score pretty high in the 80s or 90s. How was the math part? Did the study guide help you at all? Just nervous and wanted an idea. I take my test this friday and ive been trying to study my butt off. I just hope im studying enough. I appreciate your feedback and if you haven't taken the test yet good luck to you too!

Have you heard anything yet??? It have you taken your tests? And if so how did they go?
Yes, I have all the prerequisites done i will have to take anatomy through kaplan since its been over 5 years but all my other classes transfer in. So after I'm done with kaplan I can either go to kaplan university or another school for bsn. I am a working mom and kaplan just fits my lifestyle a lot better. Lets all stay in contact!

Yes I really hope we all get in! I heard from my rep that we need to get a 85 and up to be considered. I guess that's the range of scores that people been getting. I take the Kaplan test Friday and I'm pretty nervous. Not sure what to expect. The study guide she sent me was pretty simple but I feel the test will be harder than that. Keep in touch! Good luck on the wonderlic this week!

Haven't heard anything yet. My advisor said we should know by the end of Feb. I took both of my tests. They went well for me. Because I got good scores the advisor told me to apply instead of doing their CNA class, which was nice! I don't remember what was in the wonderlic all that well except that it was a lot of logical reasoning type stuff. If I could give any tips for you, smile 30, I would suggest that for the wonderlic you skip any questions that you don't think you'll figure out quickly and then go back if you have time left. The KTP was longer and more tiring than I expected! Remember that you can use a calculator on the computer so don't worry about long division or anything! haha.

That's great almost all of your prereqs are done! I might have everything done except I took Anatomy at cc but no physio. They said it might transfer in and I could skip A+P 1. It would save money but I don't know, it sounds kind of iffy! I would be worried about trying to transfer anatomy and HALF of physio to a bsn! haha I think I'd almost feel silly asking! Then I am also hoping a "contemporary social problems" class will count so I can skip sociology. I was looking into WGU for when we're done at Kaplan, it looks pretty awesome except that you automatically graduate with a 3.0.

Hey by the way, my advisor did say that all of the alternate students from January cohort got in so there was no one waiting around for May! which is good news for us
