Bridge programs in Brooklyn, NY

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

Hello everyone, I am considering moving to Brooklyn NY next summer and I would like to know if anyone knows of any LPN to RN bridge programs there besides Helene Fuld College of Nursing. I'm currently doing prereqs at this time for RN and will be finished by April and I'm looking to start hopefully by summer semester, I know most nursing programs in GA start in May. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can take Sociology at Fuld or you can take Clep sociology by studying with a REA book from Amazon.com. The test has 100 questions and you have to answer 50 correct. You should try that first or take it at Fuld.

Oh okay, you're saying that I can exempt from the Soc, and Psych's if I pass a test? And as far as math which math are you referring to? I guess if I need Chem. that would be another pre req I would have to take because in GA Chem is only needed for BSN in most schools. Have you heard anything about the CLEP tests? Are they hard, do they give you anything to study from?

They want you to take THEIR math and chem in August. HF doesn't take any other school Chem. That class is $1000, I heard. I took the clep human growth. I have psych. I heard clep sociology is easy too. Just google Clep. I used the REA booksfrom amazon and http://www.instantcert.com for the clep exam. You can also search Helene Fuld on the forum and ask questions to people in the program. I'm not in. I just passed my pn boards last week and was looking for the same thing you are. Almost every LPN here goes to Fuld to get the RN.

Congrats!! on passing your PN boards. I think I have so much to consider I'm beginning to confuse myself. I know I don't want to wait out an entire year to get into the nursing program and schools are requiring so many different pre reqs. I get excited about HF, and then I look at the website and see that they are wanting something that I don't have and my excitement goes away just thinking that I have to take another class. Then I get excited about NCC but I hear it's hard to get into their program. I don't know anything about NY, so I don't know many schools but those that I do know about aren't seeming too promising right now. I mean HF would be the way but then I'd have to take Chem, and it looks like on their site they want an A&P III. and you said I would have to take their math (which is what?) I've taken College Alg. and another English. That seems like so much. 4 more extra classes...

I know what you mean. That was my issue with Fuld. I THINK if you have A&P 1n2 you don't have to take their 3. This is what I heard from two students there. Whatever general eds you don't have, you can just take it there. HF would be better for you than the community schools. Once you pass those entrance exams at Fuld, you are IN. Do you have family here?

No, I don't have any family there. I don't even know anyone there. My friend girl picked up and moved to NY to go to HF almost a year and a half ago. She's a work-a-holic, she has a 9 yr old daughter that was around 7 at the time. She still worked full time and went to HF for the full 2 years, she didn't have any pre reqs and she did it. She's now an RN. The thing is she's looking to go back for her BSN this summer because she said it's too hard to get into a program here in GA. So we are thinking of going together. I'm sooooo nervous about this because I have a 5 yr old and a 16 yr old. My 16 yr old would stay here but I will bring the 5 yr old. I have a new home, and there's just so many other things to figure out. But I just don't want to have to wait another year. I don't know though so much to figure out but thank you so much for giving me all of this good info.

hey guys this info was helpful to me too, I just because an lpn like a month ago looking for work going to interviews, its all good and all but i know in my heart that I wanna go back for my RN... with all my competitive energy with the studying all day and all night I really wanna go back to school asap.... but i guess Helen f. school of nursing has so much requrements that i want to first work a year get my though straight and then go back to school. hopefully i will get in and succeed cuz i am a study freak..................... anyway any more advice about that school>???? how long do you have to work as an lpn to go there?????????
