Where did you go to school and why?

I wanna know what school you chose to go to and what did you pay for your education. Would you go back to this school if you could and how would you rate the school?

I went to St. Francis X. Cabrinin in Chicago. The hosp and school is now closed. IT was a great program, the nuns were very very strict but I passed my test the first go round.

I went to nursing school at University of North Dakota-Williston (now Williston State College). I received a great education! I paid for school with Pell grants, student loans, and a part time job.

From October '04 to October '05, I attended Casa Loma College in Van Nuys, California. At the time I was living in Bakersfield, so I had a 190 mile (roundtrip) commute to and from the school daily.

The school is highly respected and has been around for over 40 years, but I would not return. Trade schools tend to be operated like small business, and they tend to treat the adult students as if they're children. I financed my $20,000 tuition with a Sallie Mae student loan.

im going to my local cc in florida. didnt choose to go private because its too expensive

the total cost for the program is about $3800 for 16 months! I start in jan.

What do you think about Apollo college for an LPN then Excellsior for an RN?

i use to go to an ILPN school in Brooklyn NY and now i found out so many bad things about it. now i dont know what to do and where to go. i want not to go to school. my boyfriend were planning on getting married next year after i graduate now everything is postpon. Do anybody a program that is in the medical fiel were it can take me to become an RN. Please help i am stuck:(

I went to Monmouth County Vocation School of Practical Nursing located(at the time)in Long Branch, NJ. It was a one year full time program I attended from 1990-1991. I went there because it was

FREE at the time. The county paid for it to address nursing shortage. It is no longer free, I think it's like 5-6 thousand now.

I would probably go back to that school. It was a good program and continues to have a good reputation. I now go to a community college. I'm working on my prereqs for the RN program-4 more to go and I can get on the waiting list!

I went to Hamilton College, now known as Kaplan University, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. I chose Hamilton over the community college in the next town because there was no waiting list & I needed to start school immediately. The cost was high, approximately $18,000 but I wasn't wasting 1-2 years on a waiting list. I graduated in September and just took & passed my NCLEX-PN this month.

I definitely would go there again if I were doing this all over. There are problems with all programs; none are perfect, but this one was OK. My only complaint is that this is a private, for profit college & will take anyone as long as they have the money & can pass an IQ test with a high enough score- and they give 3 chances to pass it. I know that they admitted people who, if they made it through the program, will never be able to pass NCLEX. We had a high dropout rate. Only 9 of the original 32 students finished the program on time. A few are in terms behind the class, repeating classes. I graduated in a class of 20. Eleven of them started earlier & had to repeat classes or transferred in. So far only 1 has not passed her boards but I suspect at least 3 more will not make it. Not a very good percentage, I'm afraid, but if they aren't more selective, that will happen.

But a program like this is perfect for someone who is serious about school & is willing to give their all. We had excellent teachers & they were always there if you needed extra help or just encouragement & a shoulder to cry on.

I am so glad you left this school. My mother actually recommended that I go there but after researching it, there was no way in heck I was going...I hope you didn't lose too much money....have you tried taking pre reqs (biology, anatomy, etc) at a local CUNY school? Or going to a private, accredited school? good luck in your search.

i thank God i receive all my money back with no problem. i am trying to figure out what i wanna do with myself
