To all the LPN graduates, how are you getting ready for your boards?

Hey guys. It's already been over 2 weeks since I graduated from the school. All I've got to worry about now is that stinkin Nclex for PN. I just wanted to see how everyone else is getting ready for theirs and also wanted to get some advice from those that have successfully passed their boards. I would love hear about some of the helpful materials that you've been using and study methods that you use to study including how many hours and how many questions a day and so on. Thanks everyone.

Currently I've been using...

Saunders comprehensive review and Q & A review

also looking to pay for that Kaplan nclex review online since I heard a lot of people talking about it

I've also got Hurstreview and lipincott's review book but I have not been using those two because nobody had talked about them yet.

I'm using mosby's nclex review book and CD. I do about 100 q's per day. I did take 5 days off from studying for my honey moon, but now I'm back in the game. I've been to review classes and just been using my nclex book. BTW I take my nclex on sat. Wish me luck !!!!

Good luck student 19. I can't believe you are taking yours on THIS SAturday?!! How long have you been studying after you graduated? approximately, what? 1 month? Please keep me posted on this thread. Can you tell me the edition on your mosby review book please?

Yes ! Saturday will be exactly one month after pinning ! I really didn't start studying until about 1 week after pinning. So I'm doing this from just 2.5 weeks ( due to wedding and honey moon one week after pinning)of studying. I'm looking pretty crazy right now but I'm strectching out on faith.

I'm using Mosbys PN 15th edition.

WOW. you got some guts! i like that you are confident. 2.5 weeks.....i would not be able to take my Nclex in such a short period of time. Well, thanks for the edition, i will def look it up.

I know. I still feel like alot of the information from nursing school is still fresh in my head. All of the instructors are saying that the sooner to the better while the info is still fresh. I feel prepared but at the same time you never know whats going to show up on the exam.

I'm also having a hard time finding a job right now. I've been looking for CNA jobs but they won't hire me because they know I just finished nursing school and my not stay as a CNA. So I'm stuck. I have no income coming in, my husband just started a new job, and taking the nclex is really going to be a stepping stone while on the job hunt. So we'll see, but I'll definitely keep you posted. Who knows, I may make allnurses nclex forum history. I can see it now: New grad takes boards exactly one month after pinning and passes. She says she only studied for a total of 2.5-3 weeks or so due to getting married in the process. LOL. Anyway, we'll see what God has in store for me.

Student 19, just don't fail and bring me back a good news, :) Yea, I live in southern michigan area and everyone has hard time finding a job around here too. I'm not even going to bother getting a job before I get my license. Where are you located?

I graduated May 18th, took boards 06/24/09, and passed w 85 questions in about 2.5 hrs. I was studying for a couple hours everyday. I did questions everyday and I used Kaplan strategies book and Saunders 4th Ed Comp review and CD. I didnt feel ready after a month of studying but I wanted to get it over with. Good luck to all.

Thanks Ella for your input! Sounds like I need to really buckle down and study hard regularly like you. I graduated July 31st and haven't really done much at all. I gotta focus!!

I stopped at 85 Q's too... I just feel so out of it right now. I really don't know what to think. That nclex exam was the hardest. :crying2:

sounds like you did well, everyone that I've heard of that stopped at 85 questions for LPN passed, did you pay the extra to find out in a day or two?

Hope you passed, I'm waiting on my authority to test letter, had my pinning last week.

student 19. you got done at the most minimum number of question, 85. which means either you passed or failed and the computer feels confident enough to let you go that early. everyone feels anxious post-exam but most of the people that get done right at question number 85 I've talked to have passed so please relax and take a deep breath. I really hope that you passed! let me know when the result arrives. can you check it online?
