:saint::saint:yeah your right..

when will be your first day?

i am already in my third month here in LPN school.

and i have learned a lot..

anyway, we had tackled about anatomy and physiology, maternal and child nursing, nutrition, sociology and fundamentals in nursing...

i hope i can help in any way..

just email me in my yahoo mail [email protected]

or just in this site..

THANK YOU crampzy11

I'll start next tuesday, Aug 19, I am so excited and scared. :heartbeat:no:

I've been in school for 2 years doing my prerequesites for RN, and it is not easy to find enough time to study when you have a husband and kids.

I am 25 y/o married and I have a 4 y/o daughter, I wish I would have more time to study but like I said is not easy, after school is over I usually rush home to cook and clean, and by the end of the day I am tired, and I still have to do homework & study. It is hard to go to shool specially when you are not single and have other duties to do at home, but hopefully we can all help each other.

By the way I was reading the LVN program syllabus and

I didn't understand what the instructor means, "demonstration of TPR and BP" that is what we are doing on the very first day. I think BP could be blood pressure but I have no idea what TPR stands for :banghead:

any help will be very appreciated!

Hello Everyone! Steph here...I will be starting LPN school Sept. 2nd. :yeah:it's getting very close now. For those of you who are already in school I too hope I can rely on you to get through the things that "stump" me. We do need to help each other and I find that on this site. Fellow nurses and students have no problem with sharing their knowledge with anyone who needs it. Which I think is great!:bow:Not only do we need the support of our familys but also from our peers.:loveya:

Good luck to all of us!:p

PS

TPR stands for Temperature-Pulse-Respirations(Make sure you have your watch with a second hand).

I don't know if this will help, but here's how I study. I read the chapter I need, highlighting the important facts and topics. Then, I write those highlighted portions in a notebook. Next, I wait a day and go back to reread the notebook, highlighting things I think are the most important. After that I rewrite the notes from my notebook to individual notecards, and study study study them! I then read my notecards into a recorder, so when I can't study in places like a car, I can listen to the recorder.

I hope this made sense, it truly is a wonderful way for me to study, but everyone studies differently! By the time I have done all of the above for the chapters, I have a pretty good understanding of the reading because I have gone over it again and again.

It takes good time management, and staying ahead in class but very helpful!

Read, Read, Read! Make a study group, record your instructors lessons, ask questions. When reading try this:

Go through your chapter and read and highlight all the bold print and Headings ONLY!!!!

Then once you get to the end of chapter start to read the sentences underneath the pictures and any graphs or tables...things should start to look familiar because you have read the bold print.

When you get back to the beginning...begin to read in detail under each section. You should grasp more with this technique , then just reading straight through.

Hope this helps

:up:hello prenursestudent....

ahmm.. we are done already with the TPR and blood pressure, well, it's quite easy.. first you have to get the temperature, why?, because it requires a long time for about 8-10 minutes.. then, while getting the temperature, try to get the pulse rate in the radial part.., for about a minute... then, don't get off your hand, just put it there or place it near the abdomen so that you can count for the respiratory... it's just that.... then if there is still time, you can get the BP while the thermometer is still in the armpit of the client...then... taadaa! finish.....

hope you got it, coz i am not quite good in explaining(maybe..):wink2::)

you can do it...!

HI

we're also done with TPR and BP, I was so nervous, :heartbeat We had a test yesterday on TPR &BP and I passed the first time, :yeah: we have 3 opportunities to retest but I am glad I passed the first time. Only a few students failed and they took the test today, and all of them passed. We are going to learn a new skill tomorrow, I think is making an unocupied bed, and bathe our patients.

I have a writing assigment to turn in on friday, I started today, but I was only able to type 2 sentences. She wants to know what is our major goal in nursing, and 3 objectives that will help us achieve our goals. and also what role of the nurse appeals most to us and why. I am really frustrated because I have no idea what to write, and she is asking for a 2 page double space paper. Any ideas?

What about the other students, how are you guys doing??????

hi prenurstudent,

we are already done with

:up:bathing the patient

:up:perineal care; and

:up:shampooing

not yet with making the

:down:occupied; and

:down:unoccupied bed

anyway, my objectives in studying this field is

:wink2:to have work abroad

:wink2:to help my family

:wink2:to achieved my dreams

:wink2:to help other people

my goals are

:specs: short-term: make other people happy

:specs: long-term: good job, house and lot and others to be bought.. hehehe:D:p

gotta go....

hi :nurse:

we are also working in bathing the patient and perineal care. :imbar and how to use a bedpan, that was kind of embarrasing because we had to practice with each other. :chuckle

about the essay: the way the teacher ask the question that we have to answer in the essay is kind of weird, here it is:

what is your major goal in nursing and three objectives that will help you achieve this goal.

i am not sure what she means by objectives. could this word mean steps to achieve my goal.

which role of nursing appeals to you the most and why?

i have to choose between these 3 roles: caregiver, educator & delegator.

i think i'll choose caregiver, but i don't know why.

ooh well, take care and thanks!
