  1. hi we are also working in bathing the patient and perineal care. :imbar and how to use a bedpan, that was kind of embarrasing because we had to practice with each other. :chuckle about the essay: the way the teacher ask the question that we have to answer in the essay is kind of weird, here it is: what is your major goal in nursing and three objectives that will help you achieve this goal. i am not sure what she means by objectives. could this word mean steps to achieve my goal. which role of nursing appeals to you the most and why? i have to choose between these 3 roles: caregiver, educator & delegator. i think i'll choose caregiver, but i don't know why. ooh well, take care and thanks!
  2. HI we're also done with TPR and BP, I was so nervous, :heartbeat We had a test yesterday on TPR &BP and I passed the first time, we have 3 opportunities to retest but I am glad I passed the first time. Only a few students failed and they took the test today, and all of them passed. We are going to learn a new skill tomorrow, I think is making an unocupied bed, and bathe our patients. I have a writing assigment to turn in on friday, I started today, but I was only able to type 2 sentences. She wants to know what is our major goal in nursing, and 3 objectives that will help us achieve our goals. and also what role of the nurse appeals most to us and why. I am really frustrated because I have no idea what to write, and she is asking for a 2 page double space paper. Any ideas? What about the other students, how are you guys doing??????
  3. No, I didn't apply for the ADN program, I am about to start the LVN program, and after completing the LVN program I plan to continue with RN step up program.
  4. THANK YOU crampzy11 I'll start next tuesday, Aug 19, I am so excited and scared. :heartbeat:no: I've been in school for 2 years doing my prerequesites for RN, and it is not easy to find enough time to study when you have a husband and kids. I am 25 y/o married and I have a 4 y/o daughter, I wish I would have more time to study but like I said is not easy, after school is over I usually rush home to cook and clean, and by the end of the day I am tired, and I still have to do homework & study. It is hard to go to shool specially when you are not single and have other duties to do at home, but hopefully we can all help each other. By the way I was reading the LVN program syllabus and I didn't understand what the instructor means, "demonstration of TPR and BP" that is what we are doing on the very first day. I think BP could be blood pressure but I have no idea what TPR stands for any help will be very appreciated!
  5. hi, I am about to start my LVN program, and I think it would be a good idea to open a new thread so we can all help each other.
  6. I'll start on Aug 19, at yuba college. (CALIFORNIA) It will take me 2 yrs to finish the program, I am happy but nervous, I really like everything about nursing but I am afraid I won't make it. Can everyone say how long it will take you to finish the program, and your location, so we can give tips to each other. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU:yeah: :heartbeat
  7. thank god I dind't see that show
  8. I was asking because I was told to avoid nursing homes and ER if I don't want to see maggots. I really don't know anything about nursing homes, I am just starting my lvn program. Thank you all
  9. :heartbeat:up:THANK GOD,
  10. I believe I will end up working in nursing home since hospitals don't want to hire lvn's anymore. I am more concern about patients that have wounds and maggots coming out of the wounds than maggot therapy. Do seniors in nursing homes have a lot of bedsores? what if they have maggots? I think I'll pass out if I see something like that , I am so afraid of maggots but I really want to be a nurse .
  11. Do LVN's have to clean patients w/ maggots, & how often do they have to deal with them. I am an LVN student and I don't think I'll be able to clean a patient w maggots, I am so afraid of any kind of worms, that's my worst phobia. Please let me know because If have to deal w/ maggots I prefer to look for another career.
  12. can someone tell me how to move this message to the lvn - rn forum??
  13. HI My LVN programs starts on fall 08, is a 2 year program (california, sacramento area), but I really want to become an RN, the waitlist to get into the RN program is huge, so I decided to to start the LVN program and then do the step up program and become an RN, it will only take me one more year. I heard some bad things about the step up programs, I was told that if I become an RN that way, I won't be able to move to other states because they won't consider me an RN. Is that true? Has anyone done the bridge program before? What are the good and bad conscecuences about doing the lvn to rn bridge?? Thank you all!!
  14. hi, I am going to start the lvn program in fall 2008 in yuba college, did u get accepted??
  15. I am so glad I found this webpage. I am about to start an LVN program and I was told that I need the tb test. well my other 2 tests were negative, but this one really scared me. it turned red and it was swollen. it was kind of the size of a peny. After two days I went back to have it checked and the first nurse that check it, asked me if that was the first time i have tested positive, she though it was positive, but another male nurse though it was negetive, so he called a doctor, he said it was negative, i guess it was 7 mm. Anyways even if they say it was negative I am still really afraid, because n omy other two tests i didn't even get a red spot. I have so many questions, I know that once you test positive, you should not have the test again, will I be able to have the test again, will I always have a reaction, (7 mm) will the infection disappear or will increase? what if my next one is 10mm. I consider my test almost positive eventhough my enduration was less than 10mm. Will I be fine if I keep having the test every year. I am so afraid becuase I think I won't be able to find a job in the future if I test positive.
