pharmacology questions

Hi, I'm having problems solving the following problems using DA. If someone could work these out for me so I can see what I'm doing wrong and if my answer is right or wrong. These problems are just practice.

1. Ordered: Colace 25mL p.o. prn for constipation
On hand: Colace 20mg per teaspoon

2. The physician prescribes Dilantin 3/4 gr. by mouth BID for seizure activity. The pharmacy supplies Dilantin 50mg Infatabs

also, my class is suppose to take nursing math competency test next week and I'm nervous about it. I was told its mostly DA was going to be on the test. I have allot of problems figuring the prob out and the conversions. Can someone tell me what to expect? My school uses ATI for everything... If there is some kind of practice for it?

you need to know your conversion factors.

How many ml are in a tsp?

How many mg are in a grain?

question number 1 is worded incorrectly, the order should be for mg.

The only way to get good at this is to memorize the conversions.

Write them out over and over again until you get it stuck in your head.

(D)Order: 25mg
(H)Supply: 20mg/tsp

D/H x Q= X

25mg/20mg x 1tsp = X
1.25 x 1tsp = X
1.25 tsp = X
1 and 1/4 tsp = X

Give: 1 and 1/4 tsp

gr 1=60mg
gr 3/4=45mg

(D)Order: gr 3/4 (45mg)
(H)Supply: 50mg tab(Q)

D/H x Q= X

45mg/50mg x 1tab = X
0.9 x 1tab = X
0.9 tab(s) = X

0.9 is almost 1...

1 tab = X

Give: 1 tab

That's what I came up with, someone can double check.
