Hi guys! I am taking the entrance exam for the LPN program at ES BOCES in 11 days. I have been studying a lot but I'm still really nervous about the math section. Just wondering because these are from a practice teas test and they are a bit out of my league. :-/

You will definitely stop biting your nails when you see the things you have to touch lol! The ati package is another way they teach. It is mandatory. Definitely wait to hear about books though, they could change it from this past year. The edition changes aren't too drastic, but if you have an earlier edition you cannot use the excuse of "well it wasn't in my book". It's up to you to make sure you have the current information. They throw a lot at you during orientation, bring a pen a small pad, but don't get nervous. And definitely do the summer assignment they give you at orientation, and don't forget to bring it with you the first day of class, they take that seriously. I dont know where your orientation will be I'm sure they told you that but they are changjng campus' starting in september. Again, good luck to you!

Lol, I wish you could just stay another year and be in my nursing class. I asked the person who's selling her books if she would hold off until a day or two until after orientation so I could see what books I'll for sure need (that was def good advice) Yea, I heard that they were changing campus's (somewhere in Brentwood or something I think) Hopefully it will be easy to find and a pretty straight drive there. Oh and by the way since I know you will be finishing pretty soon, besides wanting to thank you seriously for everything I wanted to wish you Congrats on finishing and graduating =)

Thank you so much, I will be there next year for level II. I have 3 kids and work full time, so even though I was offered the full time program I had no choice but to take the part time. It was so tempting when they asked me to do the full time, but I knew I needed to work. So I am finished with level I next week and will be back in sept for level II. I graduate at the end of march. But we won't be in the same classes unfortunately, since I'll be starting with med-surg and you start A&P, vocation and fundamentals. I still need my books otherwise i'd sell them to you. My biggest advice to you is once school starts, pick up the Barron's "A&P the easy way" book, even if you don't read the whole thing, study the questions at the end of each chp. Just sayin, those questions are extremely helpful and may be seen again. Yes the campus will be in Brentwood maybe like 2 miles from the existing campus. Good luck at your orientation, it doesn't take as long as they say it does and it's pretty straightforward.

Thank you so much again! Ahh! I can't believe orientation is tomorrow, so nervous. I will definitely make sure I pick up that book. Still wish you were in my class though =( I give you alot of credit by the way, it sounds like you have a packed schedule and then some. People like you are inspiring =)

Thank you! Good luck tomorrow!! It's easy, you'll walk out of there saying "that was it?" Lol. Get started on your summer assignment early, it'll be worth it. My summer assignment for level II is huge but I'm getting a good start on it. You'll see, once you get your books your going to want to rip into them ASAP! Well at least that's the nerd in me! Again, good luck tomorrow!!

OMG...I about died when I read your question and seen the examples. I just received my guide today and I'm starting to look it over. I am so scared because I only have one time to not only pass but score high. My advisor never told me that this testing needed to be done prior to start of program. So here I am scrambling to get the guide and study till I drop. I am so scared due to math and me not being the best of friends :( But I have faith that I can do it...all I need now is some confidence. I live in GA and I'm sch for 08/14/13.

Lol, so I have yet another random question (this time it's about the summer assignment lol) Do you think it's better that I type and print the outlines (on computer) or hand write them (which I personally prefer actually, and have already started doing.)

I was originally thinking about doing both (so I'm extra prepared) but my fiance told me I would be absolutely insane to do that, seeing as I already have written (hand written) two full pages of my outline, which is only covering about 3 paragraphs in the book lol. I'm probably the only person in the world asking about hand-written verse computer written text in this day in age, but I've been so used to (and automatically prefer) hand writing everything out, because I find it helps me study so much better.

Other then that, how's your summer going?? I hope good =) Also,How's your assignment for level 2? They still haven't fully set up at Brentwood office yet (I had to go to the Bellport office last week to sign more financial aid paperwork.) but they should be all done soon.

Oh and I meant to ask you, which Barrons book? I looked on amazon and I see a pink one (2010) and a dark colored one (2005). I'm assuming the pink one, but I don't want to be wrong lol

Hi! They will only accept handwritten outlines (you should have carpal tunnel by october lol) My summer consists of a lot of homework, it's about 10x the amount from level 1. It's a lot, but I don't mind it. I took a dry run to the Brentwood campus the other day, what a pain to get to!!! The other campus was a lot easier for me, I suggest taking a dry run before school starts. There is a lot of traffic in that area! The Barron's book is "Barron's anatomy and physiology made incredibly easy". It's yellow/green with red lettering. Sept 9 is coming up really fast make sure you relax before it's here!

Thank you so,so, SO much! (lol I guess it's a good thing I started with hand writing them first haha)Yea, I still have to take a drive over there to get a feel for it (most likely this week.) I'm sure it will be a major pain for me too (I live in the Farmingville/Centereach area.) I figured, I will probably have to wake up around 5:45am so I'll have plenty of time to make it there with traffic and parking etc. That will be such a change from my regularly scheduled programing Lol!

Also thank you for the book name, I'll make sure I def pick that up soon. I can't believe how quick it's coming up (at first it seemed so far away, and now it's catching up like lightening! lol) Aww, I hope YOUR hand doesn't fall off from your level 2 homework assignment, like I've said before, I really don't know how you manage to do it, and raising 3 kids! Lol, seriously are you part superwoman too?? Thank you for everything (as usual) and for continuing to be an inspiration!

Oh so it's going to a pain for you to get there too! I went at like 3:00 in the afternoon and it was just so crazy busy in that area. And come September there will be a ton of school busses to contend with. The other campus took me 10 min to get to and the new one took me like 30 min because of all the residential single lane roads and traffic. It's going to be a stressful 6 months for me, I have to get to my kids school by 3:00 to pick them up.

Let me know if you have any other questions, I'd love to help!

I picked up my uniforms this week and was surprised to find that the patches were not already sewn on. Does anyone know what sleeve the go on and the perimeters? Also, the shop to,d me I had to buy the hose style socks. Are we not allowed to wear knee high socks? I hate the hosiery material! :-/

Yes, were allowed to where knee high socks (at orientation she said, that she wasn't going to be too picky as long as we wear white and it goes up high enough to protect us.) I believe it's supposed to go on the upper left shoulder (luckily one of my friends on fb who had went to the school had put up a picture of her class in their uniforms lol) otherwise I would have probably put it on wrong.

Ugh, I still have to get my uniform, at this rate I'm probably going to purchase it the 1st week in September (since we don't have to wear them the first day of classes anyway.) I have my Doctors apt tomorrow, so at least I'll be getting my physical out of the way and I finally finished outlining the 1st chapter of our summer assignment. lol, progress!
