Hi! I am new, but just love this site! Nobody understands a nursing students perspective like nursing students!! I got two items of good news this week. First, I made the Dean's list at OC where I have been taking Pre-req's. I am pretty proud of that at the age of 36 with a husband and four kids!

But second and more importantly, I found out I am only the 7th student in the list of 60 scheduled to start at Clover Park Tech in Spring. That means that if students drop out of fall, there is a real possibility I could get offered to start in Sept!:D ---My school does not go by GPA for entrance. There is a minimum of 3.0, but beyond that it is 'first come first serve'. (They believe in giving everyone an opportunity without competition among students, and that grades are not the only factors in a person becoming a good nurse)--- Because it goes in order of App date, if spaces are vacated, the next students in line get an option to move up!

I have seen so many posts about the first day of nsg school being anxiously waited for and boy, can I identify!! This news leaves open the possibility of my getting in 6 mos earlier!! (Now the excited/anxious, etc just made a huge spike---and it's only a possibility, which is almost worse! )---:D:confused::coollook:

Thanks for letting me vent some excitement/nervousness!:redbeathe

good luck!! i hope it works out!!

That's awesome! Best wishes!

I did get in this fall!!! I am sooo excited! I cant believe it-I am going to register tomorrow! WooHooo!:yeah::p

Congrats!!!:yeah::nurse:

Our nursing program works like that also. First come first serve as long as you have the prereqs done and even those are way easy. You just have to have all transcripts sent, first aid training, CPR training, and a Nursing Assistant training course so I was able to get all that done in 3 weeks. When I applied though I was 3 on the waiting list :( but they called me back in less then 24 hours to say I was in!!:yeah: I am aslo starting this Fall....Good Luck to you in your classes!!

When I applied in April, I was told that I wouldn't be starting until January the next year. At the end of June, I was told I could start in September. Turned out extra funding had been available to increase the number of graduates within the next two years.

Had to rush like a madwoman to get the student loan but I'm glad I did it. Yes I could have waited until January but why?

Jump in with an open mind and be prepared for a rollercoaster ride.
