Western Governors University
Im planning to start the RN-MSN this spring/summer. Ive been impressed by what I have learned about WGU. Also, I work for the VA and they support WGU nationally with the scholorship program. That speaks highly- the VA always joins new things late in the game and only after much research.

WGU MSN in 6 months
For the RN to MSN, how may CU do/did you have? I just got my transcript review and have 67, which is a little more than I expected. I would love to do I in a year but....that's a lot., although, there are many who did 35ish in 6mos so...maybe [emoji12]....

WGU RN to MSN question
Hi! I haven't posted in years but Frequently hang around to read (posted this in general student but realized this is where it should be). I found Allnurses to be so helpful when I was in school...I'm heading back for my MSN and have a question...so I'm back posting here as well. :-) I'm in the admission process at WGU and am really excited (and dreading it too, lol), but probably won't start until summer due to timing of scholarship funds. I've seen a lot of WGU alumni posts say the capstone takes 6 months. Is this while working on other competencies or did you have to take a semester just for that alone? I know it's different for everyone and there are the rare few that finish in less than 6 mos, but is it a paper you can work on continuously or is it a stand alone? thanks!

Olympic College-TADN
Hi! Yeah I got in, and it is not really that competative. I think there were only a couple people who had met all the requirements and didn't get in, if that. Last year there was only one person. It is a good program, I have two months left-grad in August! WooHoo!! cannot wait! Hope it goes well for you, nursing school is tough but it goes fast and is such a rewarding accomplishment!!

Olympic College-TADN
Yeah, I am in PO too, (but OC has an LPN too, if anyone needed/wanted to go that route) and yeah, you have to want it really bad to get through nursing school.

Olympic College-TADN
No, I am working as a caregiver. I passed the state board in Oct, and my employer has been very flexible with school hours, so I think I will stay there.... I had planned to go straight ADN, but didn't get in fall of 08 because I didn't have my micro done at the time, so I went to Clover Park and will be done at the same time I would have if I had gotten in the ADN. Also, the competetion is much less for both the LPN and the bridge program. It is another option for those who don't get in to the 2 year program.....

Olympic College-TADN
Hi! Anyone starting Olympic College's TADN this winter? I graduated from Clover Park's LPN program last August and am scheduled to start the TADN (Transition to ADN) program at OC winter 2010. Anyone completed this program? Any input is appreciated! :loveya:

LPN Tech--Daily Schedule??
I would ask , what is group A or B doing while the other is in lab -aside from the one afternoon a week SSP?...or is it the clinicals? Thanks!

LPN Tech--Daily Schedule??
Hi. I start at Clover Park Tech in a week and a half!!!! I am curious about others who got their LPN at a tech school and how the schedules were/are? We attend class 8-3:30 M-F until clinicals start, and then that sched on Mondays and clinical shifts T-F. Sound similar to anyone? How was the daily schedule set up? How many hours in lab? Any study or group times scheduled in or is it only lecture and lab?? I am sooooo excited and my mind keeps trying to imagine it all! The closer I get the more antsy I get!!

Skirts in the OR
Hi! I am Apostolic, a nursing student, and I don't wear pants either. I appreciate your willingness to share, not be ashamed of your faith, and approach this issue online!! When a uniform decision is faith based, it has been my experience (although not yet as a nurse) that employers are generally pretty reasonable, and there are usually ways to address all these issues (probably even fall-out! LOL). You want to work in OR- Go for it! God Bless!

Earlier Start Date...MAYBE??

Anyone going to Clover Park for LPN Next year???
Lamie, Thanks (again)!! Congrats to you as well-I am sure you are relieved to know everything is settled!! Cindy asked me to come in to register, although it appears on the website that a person can do it online, I don't know? I am going in because I want to find out all I can about books, uniform, etc, as well as check on my financial aid. I can PM and let you know how it goes. I think hard, crazy, but enjoyable is often the description of nursing programs. I have been pretty fortunate with my professors while taking my pre-req's at OC, but man have I heard some horror stories! The LPN who told me CP is a good program also said there is a teacher at a clinical site who has a sarcastic manner, but she said listen to her-she really knows her stuff! There were times that this student knew things others didn't because of this particular teacher. I sent you a PM, and asked where you commute from- I asked be cause of the possibility of carpooling-let me know if you would be/could be interested.

Anatomy Flash Cards/Coloring Book...
I had Netter's cards and found them very helpful, although others made their own and it helped them learn. I also made some of my own that were not included in the set I had (ie: histology) or not specific to what we were required to focus on. I often did this by photo-copying the graphics from the text at Staples onto card stock. I also had the coloring book by Kapit and Elson, which I found very helpful too. I didn't color everything in it, but when I needed to study specific systems I often got a better grasp of how each part was interconnected with others. Many times I had an 'a ha!' moment while coloring! I would go over physiology and concepts in my mind while I colored. I remember specifically when the cardiac anatomy and physiology both clicked in my mind--while coloring them. To me the 16$ I spent on it was well worth it.
