Working while in an LPN - RN program.

I graduated from LPN school in January of 2005 and began an LPN - RN, BSN transition program in November of 2005 - I literally have been killing myself - working full time and still carrying the full-time class-load. The school advertised the program "for working LPNs" - well that's a load of you know what! So I work 40 hours a week, go to school for 4 hours every tuesday night(after I've worked 8 hours that day) - then EVERY single Saturday have 12-hour clinicals.....I have a test every Tuesday....have roughly a 30 page care plan due every Saturday from the previous one....so on the 4 hours that I have available 4 nights a week and on Sundays(my ONLY day off) - I have to do homework.....LPN salary is terrible in this area and I'm just getting really tired of it - I'm half tempted to start waiting tables or bartending - I'd make more money and would probably have better hours.......I have 8 months left out of the original 3 & 1/2 year program- someone encourage me to get through it!!! :)

If your LPN wages aren't good, no tuition assistance and you don't need benefits from your job I'd say definitely get a bartending job. Its great money and fun, imo. Since many nursing students haven't been a nurse before graduating I think working in the biz is a bit overrated. Do keep in mind however that you have bitten off a big chunk right now between work and school so days off and relaxing with family and friends is probably not going to happen until after graduation. It will be so worth it and you are almost done!!!!! Hang in there you can do this!

WHAT SCHOOL DO YOU GO TO THAT HAS A LPN-RN PROGRAM CAUSE I'M LOOKING FOR ONE LIKE THAT AND THAT ACCEPTS PRE-REQUISITES THAT IS LESS THAN 10YEARS.

I am soooo in your shoes. I work 40 hrs. on weekends and I'm carrying 15 credits right now. All I do is work, go to school, and do homework on my one day off. All that keeps me going is graduation in May of 2009. I keep telling myself "this too shall pass". Hang in there. We can do this and it will definitely be worth it.

I go to Mt. State University and it has been disasterous - we were kind of the guinea pigs in this area for the program.....I'll just be glad to be done with it in 8 months!

Wow - we really are in the same shoes!!! My mom has said those exact words to me "this too shall pass".......it just gets OLD - I'm sure you more than understand that!!!! Where do you go to school?
