In my area, it is very rare to find a hospital job as an LPN. So yes, if this is where you want to work then you really SHOULD get your RN. I don't. I have no desire or interest in working a Med-Surg floor. Doing it now in clinical and it's NOT for me. I love the idea of visiting nurse, wound clinics and MD offices. Of course, many say I will not be a "real" nurse but I try not to let that bother me. I am 3 and a half months away from graduation and look forward to working in the medical field, in the capacity of an LPN. Jobs around here pay anywhere from 20 to 28 an hour, and for me, that is perfect.
