Question about shift differentials!

Hello! I was just hired as a new grad lvn in med-surg at a really good hospital. However the pay is 16.72 and hour , which is fine but I'm working nocs here!!!

Hr tells me that my differential is 4.50$ for the whole night! Does that mean that I'm only getting an extra 4.50$ for 12 hours or extra 4.50$ EVery hour? (both don't seem to make sense, an extra 4.50 a NIGHT is ludacris where as an extra 4.50 per hour seems like a lot)

I'm guessing what they mean by the "whole night", is that is the hourly differential for the whole night. I've only seen shift differentials paid by hourly, so don't worry! By the way, that is a great shift differential pay!

Yup, shift diff is usually paid hourly. If you luck out you can double dip with weekend diff and evening/night pay.

The base hourly pay rate at the nursing home where I am currently employed is $20. I receive a $3 per hour shift differential for working the night shift, so my final pay rate adds up to $23 hourly.

Wow am I getting ripped off! I get a whole dollar for working 3rds, and 2nds gets $.50. I knew there was a good reason I was looking for another job.
