LVN scope of practice for IV therapy in TX

I'm a new LVN and I have been working at a hospital for the past two months. I have been asking the RN's what drugs I am able to IV push and what drugs I cannot push as an LVN. I am getting mixed answers. Some RN's tell me not to push hyrdrazline, lasix and another LVN told me that I can push everything except Dilantin or Dilaudid (I can't remember which one it was) Anyway, are there any LVN's from Texas that know for sure. My director said he would look into it for me but I still haven't gotten an answer from him. I work primarily with cardiac patients and I don't want to mess up any IV drugs!

Texas has a wide open scope of practice for LVNs. Basically, individual facility policies determine the drugs that LVNs can push in Texas. In a nutshell, if your facility allows it, you are allowed to push it.

in Tennesse we do IV therapy including pushes as well. Varies by facility but it is usually diltiazem. lasix we can do here tho as well as pain meds etc.
