hi! i am new to the site. Was wondering if any one has heard if LPN's will be "extinct" in a few year's. I have heard we will be obsolete. Also i am a corrections nurse and would like to stay in this field, but i am looking in to relocating.Does anyone have info. on pay scales for Wyoming? Tenn.? I love my job,lot's of fun but very serious,the pay is among the highest for LPN's in my area. Any help or info. would be appreciated.Thanks:nurse:

Many hospitals across the nation are phasing out LPNs in favor of an all-RN staff. Most of the opportunities available to LPNs today consist of long-term care positions in nursing homes, hospice, rehab, and sub-acute.

Tennessee here.. I also worked corrections in Florida. Can either be a great job or horrendous, depending on how the facility is managed.

Pay Scale here in Tennessee was comparable to Florida, with the highest wages paid for LTC. I'm a 15 plus veteran LPN and now make $18.00 per hour with no shift diff and no weekend diff. Suburb of Knoxville.
