lpn career question

Hi I am a student who is considering lpn school and I have a question I need to know from a lpn is it a good thing for a lpn to have a license in diagnostic sonography? Is having a lpn license a good stepping stone for sonohraphy? Does it make me more employable in a hospital settings?

If you want to be a sonographer, be a sonographer. The LPN role is not an appropriate stepping stone to get to that goal, IMHO.

This depends on your location. In most parts of the US, LPNs are no longer being utilized in the hospital setting. Many hospitals have a preference for nurses educated at the BSN degree level.

I'm sure it couldn't hurt. Any certifications you get looks good on a resume! :) I had a patient once that was an RN & sonographer. She couldn't decide what she wanted to be she told me, so she went to school to do both. She had two jobs. One as an RN at a hospital, the other as a sonographer at another local hospital! She seemed to love her jobs. Good luck!

I think I may have asked the question wrong I guess what I am trying to say is can someone be a lpn and sonographer. I wanted to use that certification to get into a hospital based program but still practice.

Yes, a person can be simultaneously licensed as an LPN and certified/licensed as a sonographer.
