IM Getting FRUSTRATED..

ok.. been weeks now since i got my license and still i dont have a job.. EVERYONE IS LOOKING FOR EXPERIENCE.... i mean when you were a new grad how did you get a job? anyone wanna help me look for a job or know f any jobs in the bay area that need LVN's?

Where are you looking? I don't live in your area (I live in NY), but, I hear that most nursing homes love to hire new grads. I would not wish to work in one myself, but I have heard that most LPNs are successful obtaining positions there. Also, some who are (rightfully) picky have a harder time, but that doesn't seem to be the case with you. All I can say is to drop in rather than call, with a resume and reference letters in hand, because sometimes, going instead of calling or emailing leads to better results. Best of luck. I know it is frustrating to have worked so hard to complete school and the exam to not work in the field.

aaaaah. yes, i know this one VERY WELL. I live in Orange county, CA....AND..nobody in Orange county is hiring new grads. ..I mean NOBODY.

SOOOO....I have to drive 45 minutes south into San Diego county as I got a job at one of my nursing clinical sites where I trained as an LVN.

Long term care is the most flexible it seems though.

Good luck on the hunt and I wish it wasn;t so hard for us new grads !!! I FEEL YOUR PAIN (in my wallet too !)

I suppose I am fortunate to live in an area that has a plentiful number of LVN jobs. I received my temporary license in the mail one day when I was a newbie who had just passed NCLEX, and was able to get hired the very next day. I was literally able to fax my resume to 10 potential workplaces, and would receive at least 5 callbacks, even with my lack of experience.

i agree i mean calling with my min.. being used.. and gass for driving there??

i really wanna get a hospital job.. i heard everyhospital are taking out their lvns... is this true? i guess id have to go to the nursing homes... :icon_roll

Hi Nurse,

I became licensed in Sept. I sent out over 30 resumes/applications before I even got an interview. It happened to be a clinic that was looking for an experienced nurse, but they gave me a chance and hired me. I resigned recently and will start working at Kai ser next week.

My friends have had luck with the agencies. Others have walked into LTC facilities and were hired on the spot. If you know anyone who might be able to put a good word in for you, call in a favor to them. Call your instructors and ask them for some help - perhaps someplace where you had clinicals may be looking to hire. Take assignments to gain experience, even if it is not your ideal job.

Don't give up. Just send out those applications even if it says experienced;. You never know when you just might get a break. Good luck!
