I Need Help Desperatly!

HI EVERYONE. I RECEIVED MY LPN IN 1997, BUT HAVE NOT BEEN WORKING IN THE NURSING FIELD. NOW I'VE MOVED TO FLORIDA AND WANT TO GET MY LICENSE HERE , BUT CAN'T FIND AN ONLINE REFRESHER COURSE. ALSO I'M COMPLETLY COMPUTER INEPT.IF ANYONE KNOWS OF ANY INFO THAT WILL HELP ME FIND A COURSE TO TAKE, I'D REALLY APPRECIATE IT.:wink2:

My suggestion is to take a course from a school, or thru a hospital. You are not going to get the hands-on skills with an on-line program. That is what you are going to ned the most help with. Do you actually still have a current license? If not, then the refresher course will not work for you. It does require a current license, in any state, for you to even qualify for one.

Check with the BON to see what is available in your area.

Suzanne, I respectfully disagree with your information. Many on-line and distance learning programs exist that begin with a self-study portion, followed by a written exam, after which the student can obtain a temporary license or permit which enables them to complete the clinical portion of the course, working under the supervision of a fully-licensed RN.

While it would be wonderful to have access to a local program, many people live in areas where they simply don't exist.

I would encourage the OP to check out the ND State Nurses' Association and SD State University's refresher proagrams. They may or may not be approved by the FL BON, but both seem to be well-regarded programs. I'm sure the FL BON can also offer a list of approved refresher courses.

My only caution to the OP would be that if you choose to go with a distance-learning or on-line refresher, make certain you have an agreement from a local agency for the clinical portion of the program before you begin. Good luck!

try to go to a bookstore and buy MOSBY's NCLEX Study guide. It has pictures and they put it really simple so it's really easy for you to understand. And also try to volunteer at LTC or a regular hospital for your refreshment in clinical skills. Remember passing the boards is good, but you need to have the clinical skill also especially your taking care of people life,
