How many of you are pursuing your RN licensure?

Nurses LPN/LVN

Hi,

I was wondering how many of you might be pursuing your RN licensure and if so by which route; ADN or BSN?

Also, what level are you in? How much time have you got left? And in general how's it goin'? Do you find your assignments are little more difficult than your peers with no prior nursing experience?

I'm in my 2nd level of a BSN program. It's gone pretty good considering I'm older now, have a family, more bills, a commute and harder job than I did while going to LVN school. Classes are a little easier b/c I was exposed to so much of it already. :) I do find my assignments (pts.) are a little more difficult than what others get. Had one instructor just this pass week recommend a very manic pt with severe delusions to me during our psych rotation b/c as she said to the charge nurse there, "She's a nurse and can handle it." LOL...While I appeciate the confidence I'd kind of like to, well I guess I'd like to have it as easy as everyone else...

I changed from the BSN program to the ADN program at the local college. I have about 3 semesters left to go. :stone

I wish we had a year LPN-RN ladder program here. How sweet that would be.

I've got about 3 more semesters left too b/c I'm splitting one up, OB/Ped - 8 hrs. one semester & Med Surg 2 w/Older Adult 8 hrs. th' next. I just can't handle 16 hours in one, you know?

Anyway, Juvynurse, keep on rockin', we'll get there soon!

LPN-RN-ADN-BSN-MSN.

If anybody can do it, I know you can!

And i have no idea when i'll be done lol.

I sure know how you feel! Also, OMG, I definetely could relate to your "group project" rant! :angryfire

I was coordinating and working clinic for a research study (in addtn. to my nursing job) my school is conducting, one of the girls (who btw is further in the program than myself) we had recruited to assist got up during clinic, totally disappeared, didn't say goodbye, got some things to do, zilch, i find her evenutally. And guess what she was doin'? Working on her homework! I was so, SO mad! I went back and asked the principal invesigator (who is also an instructor there & this student's personal advisor) if this was th' kind of #%@! she was dishin' out to come help us in the nursing field...lol I was so pissed, I just couldn't help myself...:imbar

I mean, you know, like th' 2 you were dealin' with. Can you believe some ppls audacity? It's like there's "no shame in their game." lol

hello everyone, i too am going to school to become an rn. here in nc the cc offer the lpn to rn bridge program which is only 1 year. i'll be graduating may 2006. i find theory easier since i've been a lpn for 6 years,

yeah, it has been for me too! and, you know, what's funny about that is that most rn's (and please, please b4 someone reads this outside of the lpn/lvn corner - this is not about rn vs. lpn/lvn) think this is what all lpn's lack - the "theory." lol

although i do agree about getting the hardest assingment in clinical.

hey th' day goes by faster though, i guess, right? i mean, i ***** about it but otherwise, i'd probably be bored t' death.

while the other students are holding up the wall daydream i'm usually somewhere working up a sweat or out of my mind trying to critical think. but its all comming to an end soon and very soon!

doesn't that drive you crazy?!?!? i can definetly understand where some of the nurses are coming from that post about not wanting students, etc. because of this.

Ah, the one wound up dropping, since he missed more time than is allowed.

Not really surprised.

Marie,

I feel so old/tired, I need one titled "The Little Rascal that Could"...:chuckle

But, I also feel like we'll only be that much older by th' time we get there anyway. So, hey, why not be there with our goals (RN) met, right?

OMG, I just realized I'm applying nursing interventions to myself.
