how many shots you got at taking pre enterence for LPN?

Nurses LPN/LVN

ive not yet taken the pre enterance exam I was wondering how many shots do they give you.

i probably should not worry of this being that ive not even taken it but im

not sure what the policy if state or the class being offered can restrict and or limit how many times before they say you cant try.

anyways im still lookn at my options for what is best as far as location, pricing, and making sure accredited etc.. I just want to make sure everything i do is well worth it in the end.

just curious to know

also any suggestions to good books for lpn practice enterence tests books i can buy ? i want to make sure i do acceptionally well on it.

I didn't know that taking an entrance exam is a requirement for getting into an LPN program these days. I don't know of any books that will help for just an entrance test, it should be subjects that were covered in high school, so doing a review of some of your old school books may help.

As for how many times that they will let you re-take the test will depend on the school that you are trying to get into. I'm sure that every school has their own policy on this, so the best thing to do here, would be to call the PN program coordinator and ask him or her just to be sure......Good luck with this, I hope it all goes well for you.

oh ok.. i thought there i heard from several places they have certain number of times you can take it. my mistake if i misunderstood.

thanks for ur reply tho

=) im waiting on book pre enterance for lpn lvn so i can study. had to order since many places were out apparently its a popular book for those trying to get into lpn.

Each school may have their own requirements, especially if the program is located in a competitive area. I don't remember the exact title of the book, but, there is an NLN Entrance Exam book sold at Amazon.com. Not all schools offer the NLN (National League of Nursing) as an entrance exam, but it should give you a basic idea of what sort of material to study from. It is along the lines of basic science, reading, vocabulary and math. You may even be able to purchase a comprehensive GED book to obtain the same things.

The community college I attended had a college entrance exam in reading and math. If you didn't do well, then, you had to take a remedial course in the subject, but that was not marked against us. We had to also take pre-requisite classes of Anatomy and Physiology, English 101, Psych 101/102 and Medical Dosages. The Grade Point Average (GPA) was very competitive, though, so, if a person made below a 3.5, their chances were limited because there were only about 40 seats and over 300 applicants. Whatever you do, aim high, and inquire with the program directors what their expectations are so that you can prepare early, like you are doing now. Good luck!

im actually looking into taking lpn classes they offer for adult education at local community hs.. i think doing that then after taking lpn seeing where that takes me and then goign to local community college for the lpn- rn program.

im having the hardest time seeing if my local community college offers lpn classes in fact this is a medical facility that the community college is ment primarly for nursing/ health told me to look into hs offering lpn classes or ecpi, ace, sams or what not. not much help there its very frustrating when ive got so many questions to ask and when i do get to nobody ever picks up the hours theyre open im at work entire time and close right wheni get off..the only time i do have time is around 8 am but most the time i get vm recording they are not open til 9am! arghh!!

i know time is running out and the people im trying to reach nearly make it impossible. im running around all after work looking for best options for me and i mean price and locations.

I really do want this..

im waiting on my lpn study preenterence book to come in the mail until then i still need to figure out where i want to go. i want as much info gathered possible.

if only surfing the net for a listing of alllll the local high school adult education that offers this program was easier it would make my job a lot easier.

sometimes it seems theres not enough time in a day to do all thats needed to be done!

i took my entrance exam at a local career center, i was going to attend their lpn program until i found one that was much closer to home and had better hours. about a week after i got my results i found the school that i am currently attending and applied there. they had an entrance exam called the net test. the one i had taken was called workkeys. since i had already taken the workkeys the school used my scores from it as my entrance exam, so i didn't have to pay another $75 to take the net. as i understand it the people that took the net test had 3 trys to pass then if they had still failed they would have to wait 6 months before taking it again. good luck to you!

Hi;

I plan to start my program the end of August (changing careers after 25 years in the IT field.) They gave me a web site where I can review for the entrance exam.

I don't know if this is a national standardized test or not, but here is the link , I hope it helps.

here in Syracuse I think its only once every 6-12 months. And They test you on reading and math. You have to get i think 8th or 9th grade math. You do all algebra ( fractions, decimals, percentage, etc.) Reading has to be at a 11th grade level

I suspect each school is different. I had to take the NET on my first day of orientation. Theyused the results, not as an entrance qualification, but to show the teachers just which students may need extra help. In my opinion, the NET is a very easy test, not much different from some of the standardized testing from high school. We did had to take the Wonderlic test and pass with a certain score. This was a requirement to go to that school, not just nursing. However, those who didn't get the score required the first time, got to have up to 3 chances. It also wasn't difficult. To give you an example, I got double the required score.

Check with your school. Often you can find this on their website if you don't want to call. Good luck.:yeah:

Patrick,

As someone who also was in IT for several years prior to nursing, if you did well in IT, you have nothing to worry about, as far as this test goes. Good luck!

Hi Dixie;

Thanks for the support. I plan to go to the college I will be taking classes and taking the test. I was told it will take about 2 hours, mainly reading comprehension and simple math.

Oh no - I never took algebra :-( in high school
