i am going to attend one of those pricey private lvn programs and i wanted to know is it hard to work during your program

is it hard to qualify for a student loan for the $25,000 program ? i havent established a credit history yet

Qualifying for the loan isn't the hard part. Paying it back with its high interest rate is.

I didn't work when I did mine. Lots of women did. It was harder for them, and their grades weren't as high as the ones that didn't, but I realized that we "all" became nurses, no matter what we did along the way.....

If you can balance work, time to study, and getting decent grades, you'll be fine.

I attended one of those high-priced LVN programs in Southern California 2 years ago. My tuition was $20,000. I didn't work, and neither did most of my classmates. However, I had a classmate who worked the 11pm-7am shift as a CNA at a local nursing home, then she would arrive to class at 8:30am. I had a very easy time qualifying for a $20,000 student loan from Sallie Mae.

What part of So. Cal are you from. Have you tried Rop and Community colleges. Some counties even have programs through the Adult Ed.or Occupational Centers. I attended a program through the Los Angels Unified School District's occupational center. The whole entire program cost me at the most 2000.00. Not all payable at once. The program was free, we only paid for our books uniforms, study guides, and insurance. Towards the end there were graduation fees and nclex fees. There is a test that you take they only pick 15 students per location and I believe its about six different facilities. Five of those are alternates. I was the fifth alternate. We lost six. Try looking on the State board's web site there are a list of accredited schools and also they list the pass rate of each of the schools. If you pay all that money make sure you get what you pay for. I know someone who was allowed to take the program and the school never checked to see if she had a high school diploma or GED. She did not find out that it was a requirement until after she finished the program and 25,000 in debt. Another person I knew there class was showing up every day to class but the teacher was not. So make sure you look into the school before you sign up.

i would love to go to city college but the waitlist takes for ever..

even if i go to a private school would like to go back to city college to my R.N

Should i just ignore getting my L.V.N and go for my r.n ?
