LSUHSC CARE Program Information

U.S.A. Louisiana

Published

Hi. I am applying for entry to LSU's CARE program for my accelerated BSN degree in August 2008. I am just getting ready to send my application off, and was wondering if anyone here has done this program, or is currently enrolled in it.

Mainly, I'm curious about the admissions standards. I have always been a very good student, and maintained above a 3.5 in college. I also have an advanced professional degree in another field. I am hoping these things will make me an attractive candidate for the school. I am curious how competitve the program is, especially for someone who is not a Louisiana resident.

Also, I'm wondering what the program is like. I know that it's got to be pretty intense if it wraps up all the nursing education into 18 months. What is a typical schedule like? How many hours a day and things like that?

I'm really excited about this opportunity, and looking forward to reading any responses here. Also, if anyone is currently applying as well, I'd love to connect with you so we can bite our nails together.

Congratulations to everyone who've gotten in..I've been put on the alternate list..hey but I'm believing God for a spot. Does anyone know of someone else that's been put on the alt. list before?

I've heard a lot of stories about people getting in from the alternate list. Someone even said they were offered admission the week before classes started. Don't lose hope!

I got in too!!! Congrats to all the new CARE students and good luck to everyone who hasn't heard back yet!!

Besides Congratulations! , do the acceptance letters say "LSUHSC is pleased to inform you of your provisional admissions to the BSN Care track for 2011.... Full admissions is contingent upon meeting the LSB of Nursing requirements including a background check and submission of official transcripts..." If so then I do believe that I received an acceptance letter too!

Thanks ldnevala..I'm not...I'm believing..I'm in..I'm staying positive..I can. I will. I must.:)

Hey y'all - I'd like to start a fbook group for our class (and hopefuls!) as a way to stay in touch and set up study groups, etc.

If your an fbook user please add me, and we'll get a group page started. :D

Totally forgot about checking my mailbox until I checked this thread today...I'm in!!!!

Crossing my fingers for everyone who hasn't gotten their letter yet and looking forward to meeting you guys in the fall! Woo-hooo!

For those who received their letters, is your orientation on July 14? Trying to gauge if we'll be doing orientation as a whole group or one-on-one orientations.

I also got put on the alternate list. ::crosses fingers and toes::

So the inevitable question: can anyone who is a current or past student post about the amount of people who got in from the alternate list?

Congratulations to all who got in! I hope to be joining you in the fall.

My orientation is July 14th as well.

Nobody really knows who's from the alternate list unless the person has told you. I know of at least 4 from my class (one was called the week before classes started) and at least 2 from the newer class. I'd bet those numbers are a bit higher, though - once letters start going out for other programs, people will choose another direction.

I"m in! I got my letter yesterday. It says my "advising session" is scheduled for June 23.

Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear!
