We also started up our own LNC organization here in our state and so far, we are the only one. I am the current VP of our new organization and we will be marketing at the Trial Lawyers Convention for our state, too, so it is finally moving along.
How many cases do you work on per month and how long have you been working as an LNC? I am always interested in how others are doing and I will be glad to assist you in any way, I love to help fellow CLNCs.

You are very busy.
I just completed 5 cases for the month of October. I try not to subcontract too much. But, on occasion, I must.
I have been certified almost 4 years, but, only in the past year have I actively pursued full time.
I finally incorporated this year.
Great to know you are most successful. Vickie will be proud.

Re: Lnc
Siri and ialnc:
I was certified via Vicky in 2001, but didn't use it, so certification lapsed...now "just an LNC". Have started my independent practice and got my first case last month.
Question about experts:
I know there are many databases out there for experts, and I belong to a few listservs, but how do you find experts in your own area? Do you pound the pavement and visit local hospitals? I belong to AALNC, but my area doesn't have a local chapter, and the closest one only has 3 other members from my area. This is very frustrating since the attorney wants experts here in the city.
Any advice?
Thanks,
Dee

Hi, Dee,
That is a shame you let that lapse.
Finding those who are expert in my area? Hmmmm. Not too many physicians I would consider for that role. I have associations with a few nurses who are rather learned in their area and have prepped for this role. Then, the attorney utilized them. But, I get most of mine from the database that I have created from contact with other LNC's and from my own experiences as an NP.
If you are having to secure experts in your own area, I wish you luck. You will not be able to do this in every case. Probably not many will oblige either, unless you live in a large metropolis. JMHO.

Re: Lnc
Hello,
My name is Nancy and myself and two other peers are now studying an LNC program. We plan to jump right in and start marketing ourselves as soon as we finish our respective courses. We have hired a graphic artist to produce our logo and information packets. What other advice do you have in getting our feet on the ground?

Hello, hanah,
Which program are you studying?
I have many ideas for you. Just let me know when you are ready to send introduction letters, what to have in your marketing packet, if you desire a newsletter, choice of library/medical books, fax, letterhead, how to create a yearly report, how to create a name for your business, etc. Many, many, many ideas for you.
Glad you found Allnurses.com and the Legal Nurse forum. Great to have you with us.

Re: Lnc
Hi Everyone!
I haven't done much toward my CLNC business this past year. I've busy working at my clinic job and, unfortunatly, lost my mother last Feb.after a long illness. What a life changing experience. Then Oct. lost my step mother. And bam here it is Nov. already!
I did go to the 2-Day Apprenticeship in Denver last March. Somehow it didn't help me much. Later I joined the AALNC and ordered their book, "Legal Nurse Consulting, Principles and Practices". What a great book! It's helping me get back on track. Also, I will be attending the San Diego NACLNC conference in March.
Reading your posts in this forum helps a lot too. I've been so disorganized lately, which in not like me. Also, I am planning to go to the 6-day apprenticeship this spring.
Again it's great to be back reading all this great stuff. Happy Thanksgiving! | | No. 26 |

Re: Lnc
Why is Vicki's program not recognized by the ABNS and is she planning on persueing that?
Can anyone give their experiences regarding any other programs and share their successes?

Hello, Ellen,
I am so sorry about your losses. I can see where your priorities were elsewhere for this year. Cannot blame you one bit. My mom fell around Thanksgiving and fx her hip. I, too, have been so busy with family matters in the past few weeks/months. Hard to balance work and family, I know. Please know I am here and will be happy to help you when you need it.
The 6-day Apprenticeship will definitely be a factor that will turn your business around, I believe. The 2-day course, you can actually do at the conferences each year. I chose not to do the 2 day and am very happy with that choice. The 6 day course was fantastic. Very helpful in determining how I wanted my office to look like, library choices of extreme importance, how to locate expert witnesses, subcontract with other LNC's.
Also, actually working on a case and being able to leave with said case to add to my marketing package was a huge help. Being able to view the legal proceedings in the court system, hear a live deposition, and, finally, walk away with three interviews at home with attorneys. You will receive the templates for just about everything you need to do your cases.
Like I said, I will be here should you need any advice/assistance.
Good luck and hope to see you in March in San Diego!!

Re: Lnc
I don't know if you started yet, I am new to this site and came upon your post. I finished Kaplan's LNC Program, the program was great!! BUT...I finished last may and still cannot find work in Middle Tennessee. My advice is to investigate your area for the need for LNC's before putting out the expense of the education (unless you are willing to travel).

Hello, tennrn,
Have you tried marketing throughout your state? I did that. My very first case was totally by email/fax/telephone/snail mail. The attorney was 5 hours from me. I have done several cases in other states as well.
If you need help developing your marketing plan, please contact me and/or post here.
