I'm applying as a RN to BSN student to start Summer 2011. When are you applying?

Hi!

its going to be a few years, Im hopefully starting an RN program next fall and then once I graduate I'd like to jump right into the online RN-BSN from ku. I actually wanted to attend the nursing school from the start..but its so competitive and we live over an hour away..so travel to and from would be difficult.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I'd chime in...I applied to the accelerated BSN program for August 2011 and was rejected :( I received my "no thanks" letter from KU-Med Nursing a few weeks ago. I have a bachelor's degree from FSU in economics, and have completed all prereqs for the program. I got a 30 on the ACT I took last February, with a 30 on the science reasoning, and have a 4.0 at JCCC with a career GPA of about 3.5. I did get an interview for the RN program at JCCC though, which is my first choice school anyway (for convenience, price, location) so maybe it is all for the best :)

Im sorry!!! I hear that JCCC is a great program though..some say just as good as the BSN's in the area!

Ive been told that KU wants lots of volunteer/work time in healthcare like a CNA or PCT something along those lines...and they strongly favor the members of the nursing club for students getting ready to apply to the program.

I have worked as a CNA in the past (two years), but other than being the first in my family to go to college (another point they give) I dont think Id have much chance w/out a 3.7 or 4.0 gpa...they told me they get 500 i think applicants a year..wow. That being said..I would still love love love the opportunity to have clinicals at KU and to get into their Nurse Residency program.
