When to apply for a job?

Hello Suzanne, and everyone else!

I'm back in the saddle from my celebration ( after passing NCLEX) :)

I've read everything i could here and have 3 questions.

1) I'm going to wait until i get my VSC (following your advice, as always :) )... but, when do i go and apply for a job? Shell i wait until i have VSC for that too?( i've already used my OPT).

2) Is there anything i need to know about the contract? ( i'm scared to get tricked somehow).

3) And the last one... I've been in US for almost 5 years now and haven't gone home yet even once ( i'm here on F1 status). After i apply for green card and start working, when can i go home for a visit? I know you can apply for a travel document while waiting, but will the hospital let me go? If yes, how soon and for how long?

Thank you in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :balloons:

Go ahead and look for a job now..................Which city are you in?

Decide when you wish to go home, and have it put into your contract for that time off. That is the easiest way to do it............same thing that the Americans also do.:)

Please let me know if I can be of any more help.........:balloons:

I'm in Oklahoma city.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, SUZANNE!!!!!!!!!! :balloons: YOU ARE THE BEST!!!

Here's what i found out today after talking with the school that i currently go to: my status expires this december. In order to renew it i must transfer to another school. In order for the new school to accept me i have to have a sponsor that needs to show bank statement with 17k. ( i don't know anybody like that, my previous sponsor is unavailable).

Do you think i should just apply for adjustment now, without having the VSC in hand? (i sent the VSC application just yesterday).

Don't know what to do...... Also, after i file and INS received my application, i'm i considered legal in US or do i have to keep going to school until i get my work permit?

As long as you have applied for the VSC, I would go ahead and find an employer now. Once the documents are filed for your Adjustment of Status, you are okay. You should have the document that will permit you to work about two months after it has been submitted.

Ok, so what i will do now is : first find an employer and get a contract.

Then i go to the lawyer and file for Adjustment of Status.

Wait for VSC and work permission.

Do you approve? :)

You do not file for the Adjustment, your employer must do that for you. The employer will begin the process for you...........and the attorney takes it from there. But yes, you have the right idea..........:)

Any updates yet?:wink2:

Any updates yet?:wink2:

not really :wink2: !

I went to the hospital on wednesday, talked to the nurse recruiter. Yesterday manager from the medicine unit called me, and i'm going there today at 3pm. I'm a little scared, but hoping for the best.

I applied for 3 positions. All of them med surg: ortho/trauma, surgical and medicine unit. My classmate, that works there in nicu kept calling me and telling how easy it was, but i listen to you instead. :wink2:

Suzanne, if i get a call from all 3 departments, where do you think i should go?

Suzanne, i just came back from the interview on medicine unit. I got the job offer. :rotfl:

I liked the unit a lot. Everybody was friendly and polite.

Now i have to wait for nurse recruiter to call me, so i can sign the contract.

:balloons: congratulations!:balloons:

see, it wasn't hard to do............don't you feel better now???

:yelclap: :flowersfo :w00t:

feels great, but i don't think i fully realize it yet. they told me they like me and asked if i was interested, i said yes... later on, my nurse recruiter asked me whether i got the offer and i said i don't know , i think so.... :)

:) i felt like i left my mind home. oh, and after i left, when i got to my car i realized that i left my purse there :) lol.

i'm telling this news to you and i don't believe it's really happening to me, finally. this is even bigger than nclex :balloons: i'll finally be able to work and get green card and go home and see my mom.

and suzanne, i'm grateful to you forever!
