study option

Hello

Well its finally time to start applying for all the courses again to try and get into UNI to study to become an RN. I am in South Australia and I am applying for the 2 unis here plus also Charles Darwin Uni which has external study options available. As these courses are extremely competitive and I am applying on the basis of a stat score I am looking for other options if I am unsuccessful.

Does anyone know of any other RN courses that can be done externally or bridging courses or perhaps even paying fees per subject at any of the unis that I could later gain credit for ? The main priority is it has to be able to be done external.

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

This site has a list of all the nursing course providers - I can only suggest you go through them to check them out.

I would also suggest if you are looking at private universities look at not just nursing but health science courses that would have a components that would count toward a nursing degree.

I think this list is a pretty comprehensive list of Australian Universities.

Charles Sturt University campus in Bathhurst has a fully external BN program for Enrolled nurses. It runs for 4 years and does 2 subjects per session.

Go to courses and external. Closes 30th September.

The only problem is that they do insist on residential schools about 2-3 days at the start of each session (semester) and last time I heard, could have changed though, the pracs have to be done in a NSW hospital. You can arrange one near the SA/NSW border you would be ok. :balloons:

Apparently NSW has superior hospitals and nurses to other states HA ha ha and the NSW nurses board demands that students at NSW universities do their pracs in NSW. :uhoh3:

That was the requirement a couple of years ago. I don't know about now.

Hope this helps. C :)

Have you considered applying to UNISA's Whyalla campus as an external student, their entry score is alot lower. :)
