Just interested to see how many of you now have actual contracts already signed for working in the US. And in what type of facility?

thanks suzanne, i'll find out from the hospital's nurse recruiter if i can get the bonus paid out in seperate paychecks

i've signed a contract for 2 years in a hospital in East Bay SF, it is a non-profit hospital......suzanne, is it true that relocation bonuses are heavily taxed? in the state of California, do you know how much the taxes account for?

Most hospitals in the US are non-profit, but are still considered private compared to other countries. Of course, there are county hospitals and Veteran's Hospitals all over.

What type of unit will you be working on?

i will be working in the stroke unit, it is a new unit that has been operating for a few months now

I signed contact with Whiteglove. I don't care about the department or the real employer. I just hope earlier access to USA. But the situation seems bad. I met some problems during the CVS process. What'more I failed TSE.

What a tragic!

Don't feel bad. I failed my TSE on the first try.

I highly recommend that you take the IELTS series instead. You have a real person in front of you for the speaking part, instead of a tape recorder.

I signed up April of 2004 with an agency in NY. I don't know what type of facility they're going to give me. I ran into some problems with them with regards to processing of my papers. There was a delay in payment and filing of my documents... in the process I got affected by the retrogression. :o

I already passed all the necessary tests and even had my visascreen when I signed up with them hoping that it would somehow make the processing a little bit faster... :o

TSE or IELTS did you take part in? You are wonderful.

Hi Monica33. I took the TSE. IELTS was still not offered then. :)

You're signed up with whiteglove right? How are they in terms of processing your papers? I was supposed to sign up with them. My auntie sent me a contract. I had some doubts coz they don't have a partner here in the Philippines (but now they do).

Hi ]Suzanne: I searched the web, and made contacts with several Hospitals and different agencies ( 4 or 5 ) didn't find a Hospital who wanted to hire me; The ones that answered, said that if I had a work permit and residence, there won't be any problem; but until I could get the residence they were not interested. There were also several Agencies ( 4 or 5) that contacted me by email and by phone. Then they sent me the contracts. And there was my surprise, they were previous contracts, that asked more from me than what I wished to give. But one of them worked in a different way, they contacted me with different employers, had phone interviews with them, and then choose the most convenient. Moreover, I don't have to pay any money to the agency neither to the facility. They're processing my paperwork right now, for me and my family. It's a LTC facility in NJ. This Agency already made a friend of mine be hired by a Hospital in OH. She traveled a few month ago, and everything was OK.

I'm pretty happy with the choice I made. thank you for your interest.
