Shane Warne

I assume everyone has heard the news already -- that's if you follow the cricket!! He reckons he knew he was taking the drug (whatever it was) to reduce fluid, but he didn't know it was a diuretic. WHAT THE.....????

From the Australian Sports Drug Agency guidelines....

"....What is inadvertent doping?

Inadvertent doping occurs when an athlete takes a medication to treat an injury or illness without realising that it contains a prohibited substance.__

Athletes are subject to anti-doping policies that enforce the principle of strict liability - athletes are responsible for any banned substances found in their body.__

Athletes are responsible for checking the status of all substances and medications they consume._ Ignorance is no excuse!"

Sorry Shane, but it looks like you are gone this time.....

I agree!! Sorry Shane but i think your time is up...

Hey, his shoulder is pretty much buggered anyway, 'bout time he retired....pity it had to be on this note though....he is actually quite a good player!!

It was his Mum's fault!!......So that's ok then!

I just read that too don....how funny was that??!! I think he should just shut up how...."Better to keep your mouth shut & let people think you're a fool, than to open it up & prove it!"

:roll :roll

Took the words right out of my mouth. His Mum gave him a diuretic!! Hmmm that just begs the question...does he think he's fat???

I was thinking the same thing........what does a supposedly healthy man need to take a diuretic for ?...and before he goes t a hot country ?.....very suss if you ask me !

Shane Warne

Well l think that the whole thing is very sad as all he will be remembered for (regardless of what happens at the tribunal) is all his mistakes and not his amazing talent - As l was saying to my BIL (who is a doctor - and loves cricket) this is quite a common practice amongst some people - i.e. for weight loss - i.e. before a wedding etc) Have a number of friends who have told me this is what they have done !!

I do hope that eventually he will be remembered for his abilities.

Tookie

send him to coventry

The plot thickens

I read that the sample was given on the day that he announced his retirement after the world cup.

The cynical view begs the question...did he think that they wouldn't disclose the results until then?

Don't get me wrong. Shane is arguably one of the best cricketers the game has known and has my respect for that.

Maybe the pressure at that level alters your thought processes?

Anyway, a fair go is the least he deserves.

The man has pushed it this time, it's sad cause that is what will people will remember him for. The mum gave it story is to lame, what a sad end to a great bowler.

sorry he is a tosser and a bad role model

pity his mUm didn't tell him to not smoke, not have phone sex not take other peoples prescription drugs.........................

but then by hiss own admission he said he was stupid

loved the by line in our local paper

picture of three old folks from teh anit doping policy saying to Shane WArne

"we have taken it under consideration and com eto the conclusion.......you are a dope!":p
