Reviewing for NLE or NCLEX takes a lot of hardships, patience, perseverance and sacrifice. What were the sacrifices you had to make in order to focus for the exam and pass it? :)

Well, mine was not spending my '08 summer out of town with my friends and barely going out on dates with my boyfriend hehe, too bad for him. :p Then, after i passed the NLE, i was rarely home already haha :)

What about you?

i had sleepless nights! and my eyes hurts alot because i had to read tons of nursing review books! frequent headaches as well! but its all worth it when you see the fruit of your labor!

Hi sponge,

congratulations, I read that you passed the NCLEX. Good job!

Anyway, in my case, I sacrificed in the sense that I'd rather read the reviewers than fall asleep (I'm not the "study hard" type of person) :chuckle. I also enrolled in review classes and listened to lecturers for long hours :bluecry1: since I'm an auditory learner (I retain more information listening to something rather than reading).

hi...

it really takes a lot of effort to pass the both exam. my preparation in nclex was answering questions everyday and reading rationale even if my answer was right or wrong. it's really helpful answering nclex q&a. then, with study, prayers and faith is really part of it. keep focused on what you aim for...and be determined so you can make your dream come true...never forget that being happy/takin a break is also part of the preparation to relax and release anxiety...

my preparation and on the day of my exam(NLE& NCLEX), i do surrender all to dear GOD...prayers always work just have to believe...

on my first try on both exam i have successfully made it... God is good all the time...:wink2:

I really took the reviewing for nursing exams seriously.. I literally grab every nursing book i can get.. hehe :) i'd always set a schedule for myself everyday, organizing which topics i should cover on a specific day and how many chapters I can finish.. all hard work paid off. I passed nle, cgfns, nclex and ielts exam in one take.. :)

@ sofia*26: i did the same thing, i used a lot of reviewers for the NCLEX. it's not recommended since it causes confusion but it worked for me. it gave me the peace of mind since i didn't enroll in any review class :D i also made a schedule for myself. and now im an RN! as for the sacrifices that i made during the review, i had no social life and my other interests such as my love for photography was put on hold.

nle:

in my school we had an in house review which started from nov-feb.

then me and a bunch of friends enrolled in a review center.

8-9hrs of review a week for 3 months. we ate, sleep and breathe nle.

then june came and i must say i'm quite lucky cause the 2007 test plan

wasn't the regular test 1-3 on first day and 4-5 on the second.

5 months later i passed.

nclex:

i took up kaplan review and i was expecting a spoon feeding review like

the usual but what i got was a self study support kind of review.

was better off studying by myself with nclex books and cds questions.

Guys, try to discipline yourselves to answer questions during your actual test time.

For example:

Your a night person, try training yourself to be not asleep but to be on tip-top condition to answer long exams during 9AM (if this is your scheduled exam time).

not much..you don't need to sacrifice all....except ofcourse your money and your time!!!. u do need to balance everything... in maximum doses.... much time will eaten for your studying alone... but u can make it fun.. with some study partners... i call it... a group study activity.. you can make jokes..related to disease physiology or weird names of drug or illnesses...practically making it easier and faster to absorb information... as well as making good recall... so enjoy..... and Do pray .. a lot.. thats the much sacrifice you need to take things up!!!! :)
