thanz for all the warm welcome! im fairly new here, and im an RN here in the philippnes. Got my CGFNS certificate recently and i would really want to be enlightened about the retrogression thing. can anyone enlighten me with that? My uncle is as immigrant lawyer in illinois but i havent heard from him recently(he's also processing my papers)..Its only been a week since he got all my requirments for the immigrant visa..i do hope that he could process me the soonest that he can....

everyone, who have not filed their papers before october 1, 2005 are affected by it... retrogression in simple terms means there are no available visas for us nurses and PTs.... i guess your uncle just decided not to inform you since you cannot do anything about it anyway and he wants prolly to spare you with the stresses..

so just sit back and prepare for your nclex so when the retrogression is over, you have nothing to worry in terms of requirements...

goodluck

You will be able to get thru the DS-230 process, which is also called Packet #3, but you will not be able to get an interview scheduled with US Embassy until the retrogression is lifted.

Please take the time to do a search here as there is already much written about the retrogression that is currently in place.

To suzanne,

I have my packet 3 documents forwarded in the US embassy last October. My priority date is before October 1'05 so is it possible that I could get an appointment letter from the US embassy ASAP? one more question, do i need to get a police clearance from Singapore where I've worked for a year before my US interview or do I need a letter from the US embassy to get a police clearance in Singapore embassy. I'm here in the Philippines waiting for my packet 4.

But anyway, been reading your posts and you're such a big help. God bless and more power.

To give you an idea click this site for visa reciprocity:

I worked in the middle east but I don't have police clearance to show to the US consulate because I have to get it personally. I currently work here in England.

You need to get a Police clearance from Singapore because you stayed there for more than 6 months. Try to get in touch with the Singapore Embassy on how to get this rerquirement.

There is not a visa on hold for you, as that is not done until your packet #3 is APPROVED and then sent on to the US Embassy. The visa numbers that were available are gone. You are going to need to wait until more become available. I do my calculating on when the Packet #3 is approved, and you do not have that notification as of yet. The US Government does not reserve a visa for you based on when you were involved with the I-140, that is only the first step of the process...............

If your PD was before October, 2005....why did it take a year to get your DS-230 submitted? That would be my first question to you.
