hello! i'm curious if there is a licensure exam for working as a nurse in qatar? i tried searching, but the threads were quite old and i'm not sure if it's still the same today...

oh right... biggrin.gif so it is a short/vocational course at PGH. then apply as an EMT in qatar. and so on, so forth til you can apply as a nurse. marvy!yeah.gif i just hope the course won't cost an arm and a leg. sad.gif

The easiest way for you to get a tourist or visit visa is through your dependents. It would be highly difficult for your friend to get you one unless it is for a legitimate reason. However, it is rarely you could get a visit visa through a friend. Good luck!

hmm...so, why is she positive she cud get me one? if in case she is able to get me a visit/tourist visa, can i look for a job der and get the ryt to work der? forgive me for i am desperate... :(

@ gingerbreadman0214: I'm not really sure about a friend sponsoring you. I am only familiar with Relatives sponsorship and this is by far the fastest. You said she is confident she can get you a visit visa, did you ask her how and if it's legal? Be well aware that a thing called "visa buying" is rampant in the middle east. But I'm not sure if that is practiced in Qatar too. I wouldn't recommend you to take that path. Also, as far as I know, a visit visa will not allow you to work, you will need to apply for another visa.

For other queries:

EMT is Emergency Medical Technician AKA Paramedics. You can check if PGH is still offering the said course. It is conducted for 6 months (more or less) and the fee is 20k PHP (this was true a couple of years ago, check with them the updated fee). This not only limit you to Qatar as almost all Countries have paramedics. This is just an option and this is not really considered a nursing experience but only a semi-related field experience (ER).

Like I said, you would also want to consider the location of the hospital/area you will be working at. Qatar is not as developed as other middle east countries.

You can also try to check other options like Australia, Canada, UK, etc.

These countries have better job opportunities.

i think that's exactly what she meant. "visa buying". she suggested that i go there to visit then look for an employer then apply for a working visa. that's how she got there.

with regards to the EMT course, i'll definitely go check it out. it will get me inside qatar, but can it be the first step to get me hired as a nurse? eventually?

i really appreciate the help. i hope you don't mind if i push it a little further by asking you if you have an idea on how i can penetrate queensland? i hear it's the best for those who doesn't have work experience as an RN.:D

Do you really want to stay in Qatar? If so, EMT would help you a bit. However, I can't really promise you that your experience in EMT will get you to nursing there. I know a lot of EMTs there who are nursing graduates from the Philippines but have not transferred to a nursing job. Some of them are lucky enough to be accepted by Qatar Gas when it opened its doors for new nurses this year. They said EMTs get more pay compared to nurses (this is from one hospital only). But oil companies do pay high wages for nurses but this is hard to get into. You can try that pathway and work your way back to nursing - socialize as much as you can. It's all about politics anyway, if you get what I mean. :chuckle

Anyway, the final decision is still yours. Moreover, tourist visa only lasts for 3 months. You have to go back home immediately on or before the date it will expire.

Hello everybody. I have a question for nurses in Dubai.

The reason of my writing this post here is that, it is the only active thread about Middle East. I am registered to DOHMS exam in September. I have a time to get ready to the interview. What interview does the nurse have when he (she) applies to DOHMS assessment? Does anybody have some information about the questions there? Is it hard to pass them? I looked thru all the threads about this interview DOHMS cert. But I found nothing.

No licensure exam in Qatar, just license verification. You will submit all your requirements and they have a seperate agency doing the verification. You will pay for the license and evaluation verification for 800 QAR and 100 to NHA/MOH.

For those Nurse coming from the Philippines they need the red ribbon coming from the Dept of Foreign Affairs as part of the requirements. Even the experience certificates is being required to have it authenticated from the DFA.

Minimum requirements is 3 years of experience before NHA will issue the license. Certificates of Employment must be authenticated from Dept of Foreign Affairs with the red ribbon attached as verification evidence.
